Removal of air from brake system

Vehicles without traction control system ASR

A warning

To remove air from the vehicle brake system with ASR requires a controlling electronic device company Mercedes. The device is connected to the diagnostic plug in the engine compartment on the right. Pressing the button automatically removes the air from the ASR-system.

After each repair brakes, where the opening of the brake system pressure lines can penetrate the air, which must be removed from there. An indication of the presence of air in the piping system is the lowering of the brake pedal when you click on it foot without appreciable resistance. In this case it is necessary to eliminate the leak and bleed the system.

Air is given by depressing the brake pedal while still need an assistant. If you need to remove the air from the entire brake system, it should be removed from each cylinder individually. With regular replacement of brake fluid in the part of the maintenance is necessary to remove air from all four brake cylinders, so it does not penetrate into the brake system.

Sequence of removal of air:

1. The right rear caliper.

2. The left rear caliper.

3. Front right caliper.

4. Left front caliper.

If caliper replace or repair, as a rule, enough venting of the corresponding cylinder. If the repair was carried out with an empty tank for brake fluid, it is necessary to bleed the entire braking system.

Before removing the air, unscrew the cover of the brake fluid reservoir and fill the brake fluid up to the mark "max".

A warning

During air removal watch the brake fluid reservoir. The brake fluid level should not drop too low, otherwise the tank will be sucked through the air. Always top up with only fresh brake fluid!

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove the dust cap from the valve of the caliper breather. Clean the valve, put a clean hose and the other end into a jar half-filled with brake fluid.
2. Assign an assistant to press the brake pedal ("swing"), until the brake system will not have the pressure that is felt in increasing resistance when you press the pedal.
3. When will create enough pressure, fully depress the brake pedal and hold it in this position.
4. Open the valve on the caliper breather turning the wrench approximately half a turn. Collect the liquid is poured into the container, make sure that the end of the hose was kept below the level of liquid in the vessel.
5. As soon as the fluid pressure is reduced, immediately close the valve breather.
6. Repeat the process inflating until the pressure increases. Press down to the failure of the brake pedal, keep your foot on the pedal, open the valve breather screw until the pressure subsides, and tighten the screw valve.
7. This operation is repeated for one braking cylinder until until no occurrence of air bubbles in the brake fluid flowing into the vessel. Due to flow about 80 ml of the brake fluid from a brake cylinder.
8. After pumping, remove the hose from the air breather valve, put the dust cap. Screw the valve is easy to tighten with a torque 7 Nm
9. Also remove the air from the other brake cylinders.
A warning

During air removal watch equalization tank. The brake fluid level should not drop too low, otherwise the tank will be sucked through the air. Top up only fresh brake fluid.

10. After removing the air in the top up the brake fluid reservoir up to the mark "max". Screw the lid.
A warning

Conduct security checks:

- Leveling screws tightened;
- Is the level of brake fluid;
- With the engine running, make a tightness test. For this purpose depress the brake pedal with a force of 200 to 300 N (20-30 kg) for about 10 seconds. The pedal should not be fed. Check the tightness of all connections.

11. Finally, make several braking on a quiet street.
