Removal, installation and adjustment of the hub and front wheel bearings



When driving, especially at sharp bends, audible noise from the wheels, it indicates that the bearings are damaged.


Cut the front hub

1 - knuckle

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Apply the parking brake, lift the front of the car and establish on a support (support), remove the wheel.
  2. Lightly hammer and prying with a screwdriver, remove the hub cap, and then contact spring interference suppressor.
  3. Remove the caliper without disconnecting the brake hose, take the bracket aside and fix a car.
  4. Use the socket wrench to loosen the bolt and remove the ring nut.
  5. Remove the hub and brake disc with a rotary pin, using, if necessary, a stripper and a hammer with a striker of a soft metal.
  6. Remove the stuffing box, remove the outer separator ring and bearing.
  7. Remove the stuffing box, remove the ring and the inner bearing cage.
  8. With the help of a soft metal mandrel Xpress outer bearing rings from the hub.
  9. Rinse and dry the parts with kerosene. Spend their fault detection.
  10. Check the surface of the steering knuckle, especially under the collar; if they are not in perfect condition, replace the steering knuckle.
  11. Wheel bearings and hub thoroughly clean and rinse.
  12. Check the condition of bearing housing in the hub.
  13. Check the condition of outer rings of bearings, whether they wear tracks, shells. The rolling surface must be smooth, gray.
  14. If the ring has indentations on the rollers or overheating have raceway from light brown to blue, these bearings must be replaced.
  15. Check it easy to rotate tapered rollers. Check in good condition end surfaces of the rollers. Rust on the bearing points on the cuff damage. In this case, replace the wheel bearing and the cuff.

    When replacing the wheel bearings should be replaced at the same time both bearings.

  16. Caution with equal force press in the two outer rings.
  17. The hub and bearings with high temperature grease fill in the amount of '45
  18. Baskets with casters also filled with grease so that the space between the rollers was filled with grease. Rollers replace.
  19. New cuff filled with grease, and on the seating surface, apply a thin layer of sealant. Fitting the cuff in place with a wooden arbor.
  20. Front hub fill lubricant residues.
  21. Install the brake rotor and caliper.


Adjustment

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. If necessary, press the brake pads to allow free rotation of the disk.
  2. Loosen the bolt clamping nut.
  3. Rounding the clamping nut at the same time rotate the wheel hub until the hub is almost stops turning. Then loosen the clamping nut 1/3 turn and hit the end of a pin with a plastic hammer to remove stress.
  4. Tighten the clamp bolt socket wrench.
  5. Using a dial indicator, check runout bearings, which should correspond to 0.01-0.02 mm.
  6. Set the contact spring suppressor radio fill the hub cap with refractory greasing up to the shoulder (about 15 g) and put him firmly with a hammer onto the hub.
  7. Install the wheel bolts tightened to 11.0 kgs.m, lower the front part of the car.
