Assessment of the degree of wear and replacement brake pads

In both axes of all considered in this manual models use disc brakes with fixed calipers type. Illustrative material to replace the brake pads is shown in the illustrations, which include all the links in the text.

Assessment of the degree of wear

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Through observation windows in brake caliper estimate degree of deterioration brake pads, - operation of a vehicle with worn pads below the permissible limit is fraught with damage of the sealing groove between the rib and the wheel cylinder piston boot.
  2. Make sure there are no signs of fluid leaks, if necessary, make a test system for leaks (see. Section Check of brake system for leakage).
  3. Check for signs of leaks calipers (31a / 31b), if necessary, replace them (see. Section Removal and installation of a support).

Replacement

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. At a corresponding complete disunite connector contact wear indicator (1) and remove the last, - defective sensor must be replaced.
  2. With a suitable punch (035) knock out the fixing pins (41).
  3. Remove the spring retainer (41b).
  4. If necessary, hooked arm rests on the caliper body through a wooden spacer, remove the pads (43) of the slides (31a / 31b).
  5. Using a special clamp (031) press the piston of the wheel cylinder, if necessary, pre-pumping the little brake fluid from the reservoir GTZ.
  6. Strip guiding pads - do not use tools to clean the guides with sharp cutting edges.
  7. Installation is in the reverse order - pads, equipped with pads (43b) before installation should be lubricated with grease Cu-7439.
  8. Finally, check the brake fluid level, if necessary, make appropriate adjustment.
