Removing and installing engine

The procedures for removing and installing the engine will need reliable lifting equipment with an attorney rigging.

Withdrawal

A general view of the layout of the engine and it accessories and components are shown in the accompanying illustrations.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Lift the hood and take care of reliable protection of body panels front of the vehicle.
  2. Circle marker hood hinges in order to facilitate subsequent installation. Disconnect the hood from the fluid hose washing the windshield.
  3. Give fixing screws and remove the hood Assistant from the car.
  4. Disconnect the negative wire from the battery.
  5. Drain the cooling system and remove from the vehicle assembly heat sink and fan (see chap. Systems of cooling, heating and air conditioning).
  6. Remove the air cleaner and the air intake hose (see chap. Power supply system and exhaust).
  7. Loosen the hose clamps and return fuel supply to the fuel dispensing pump. Disconnect hoses. Plug the open ends of the tubes to prevent the ingress of dirt into the power system.
  8. Disconnect the hose from the heating pipes in the engine compartment bulkhead, - try not to damage the accident last. If necessary, cut the hoses to facilitate the procedures for their removal.
  9. Loosen the nuts securing the throttle cable on his arm, turning the lever move the damper to the fully open position and remove the cable end of the holder. Remove the cable to the side, put him in such a way that it does not interfere with further work.
  10. Disconnect the intake manifold vacuum hoses and brake booster servo clutch.
  11. Disconnect the main power cord starter and disunite an electric socket of the traction relay.
  12. Disconnect the wires of the main generator, the generator disunite an electric socket. Give the nut on the generator ground wire.
  13. Disconnect the intake manifold located under the electric socket of a control lamp of pressure of oil and the gauge of a measuring instrument.
  14. Disconnect the electrical connector on the carburetor and disconnect the wiring of the temperature sensor. Remove the wiring harness from the intake manifold and place it on the side of the working area.
  15. Give the bolt and disconnect the ground wire from the bracket guide tube probe level measurement of motor oil.

If the wiring harness transmission interposed between the measuring probe and the cylinder block, it will have to shift to the opposite side of the probe in order to avoid engaging in the extraction engine.

  1. On models equipped with air conditioning, disconnect the vacuum hose regulator of turns of idling of the damper throttle and inlet pipeline.
  2. The left side of the engine compartment, disconnect the ground wire from the lifting eyebolt bracket of the power unit and the ignition coil.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector and distributor connector wiring clutch air conditioning compressor (if included).
  4. Disconnect hoses from a coal adsorber steel tubes on the engine.
  5. Install drain capacity under the steering pump, loosen the return hose clamp, disconnect the hose and drain the hydraulic fluid steering system gain. Give the banjo bolt on the pump, - try not to lose the copper sealing washers.
  6. Attach the hoses hydrostrengthening steering away from the work area with a clean lint-free wound rags to avoid hit in dirt system.
  7. Poddomkratte the front of the car and establish it on props.
  8. Give bolts and release the plastic screw clamp on crankcase. Remove protection.
  9. On models equipped with air-conditioning:
    1. Loosen the lock nut of a tension roller, and rotate the adjusting screw with a screwdriver, remove the drive belt from the pulley of the compressor.
    2. Give the lower bolts and nuts of fastening of the compressor.
    3. Remove the upper mounting bolts, lift the compressor and secure it on the mudguard of the left wing.

Do not loosen the attachment lines of high pressure compressor in order to prevent injuries and frostbite damage as a result of direct contact with the refrigerant. Furthermore, loss of refrigerant will lead to the need to recharge the system.

  1. Give nuts securing the exhaust flange exhaust system to the exhaust manifold, exhaust pipe undock without changing its position on the vehicle.
  2. Give fixture dome plate clutch to the engine. Remove the bolts reinforcement brackets, remove the brackets from the engine.
  3. Give fixing bolts and remove the motor starter - probably will have to overcome some resistance associated with the need for the destruction of the sealant.
  4. On models with AT Give fixing bolts and remove the cover plate of the converter of rotation. Using a suitable lever, turn the engine over the disk drive so that opened access to one of the bolts securing the converter. Removing the bolt, repeat the procedure for the remaining fasteners. Press in the direction of rotation converter transmission.
  5. Post the engine using suitable lifting equipment, removing the weight of the power unit from its supports.
  6. Give nuts of fastening of support of the engine cylinder block and bearing bolts to the chassis.
  7. Slightly lift the engine and remove the support. Lower the engine to the chassis for easy access to the upper bolt of the dome grip.
  8. Give the top of the dome of coupling bolts to the engine.
  9. Using a thin knife or other suitable tool, cut the sealant around the perimeter of the dome grip, - try not to damage the mating surfaces.
  10. Carefully lift the engine assembly and move it forward on the car. On models with Manual transmission, ensure that the gearbox output shaft came loose from the assembly coupling. On models with AT make sure that the converter is not dropped from the rotation of its housing.
  11. With extreme caution, trying not to damage delicate components, remove the engine assembly from the vehicle. If there is the slightest uncertainty it makes sense to spend time on the prior removal of interfering components.

Setting

Set largely in the reverse order.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Make a thorough cleaning of the mating surfaces of the dome grip and the engine. On the dome flange pillow apply the sealant.

The tightness of fit of the back plate on the engine is also extremely important, as it prevents water from leaking into the dome grip.

  1. On models with Manual transmission remember with a special tool to center the clutch disc on the flywheel, only then tighten the fasteners basket (see chap. Coupling).
  2. Before installing the front of the power unit support screw the upper bolts to the engine clutch dome.
  3. Translating the weight of the engine support, tighten the nuts and bolts of their fastening on the chassis and engine.
  4. Fill the engine with the required amount of oil required grades. Fill the cooling system (see chap. Systems of cooling, heating and air conditioning).
  5. Connect the exhaust pipe of the exhaust system to the exhaust manifold by installing a new gasket.
  6. Lubricate the sealing flange boarding starter and starter set into place.
  7. Adjust the accelerator cable (see chap. Power supply system and exhaust).
  8. Before starting the engine, the primary check that all settings and adjust the belt tension.
  9. After starting make sure the temperature of the engine oil pressure. Check the engine for leakage in case of such eliminate their causes.

Models 4.2 l of late years of release, equipped with fuel injection (EFI)

Procedures for removing and installing engines of 4.2 liters, equipped with EFI systems are basically identical to those for gasoline engines, except for the following points.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Before you disconnect the battery to relieve pressure in the supply system, for which:
    1. Take the screws and lift located in the engine compartment of the relay, located next door to the battery. Remove the cover and remove the fuel pump fuse 15 A;
    2. Start the engine and let it run at idle until spontaneous stop. To ensure completeness of the pressure relief switch starter for 10 seconds;
    3. Switch off the ignition.
  2. Remove the air duct and exhaust pipes mounted between the throttle body and the air flow meter.
  3. Instead, disconnect fuel hoses from the fuel pump, loosen the clamps and disconnect the return gasoline pipe from the fuel pressure regulator and the fuel hose - on the fuel line.
  4. Also, disconnect the alternator and wiring from the air regulator located under the right front corner of the inlet pipeline. Disconnect the main ground bus from the bracket in front of the intake manifold, and the ground wire from the pipe wall.
  5. Instead of disconnecting the wiring from the carburetor and the temperature sensor Disconnect the three electrical connector located on the bracket in front of the intake manifold.
  6. Skip To disconnect the vacuum hose stabilizer idle speed models equipped with air conditioning.

Remember, before disconnecting the cable and hose them must be marked.

  1. Install in reverse order, with the following highlights:
    1. Make sure that no wires, cables and hoses do not get caught in the process of installation of the unit.
    1. When filling the cooling system Note the presence of cork air outlet located in front of the delivery chamber of an air path as in models with engine 3.0 l (see. Accompanying illustration).
