Shock absorbers and springs

Dismantling strut

1 - a device for the spring;
2 - tool for loosening
self-locking nut;
3 - curved hexagonal wrench, 7 mm;
4 - the handle of the torque wrench;
5 - Capture devices for spring

Withdrawal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove spring strut.
2. Install the clamps the spring compressor to the extreme turns of the spring strut and tighten the device so that the coils of the spring away from the supporting spring plates (see. Fig. Dismantling strut).

A warning

When installing the grips on the coils of the spring, make sure that grips firmly fixed on the spring and jumped at compression spring. Spring is compressed evenly on both sides. In no case is not contracted by the turns of the spring wire, as the spring force is very large and there is a risk of an accident.

3. Holding the rod curved strut spanner 7 mm from the rotation, unscrew the self-locking nut.

A warning

Central nut can be unscrewed only at the compressed spring.

4. Remove all the parts rack and remove the shock absorber from a spring.
5. If you need to replace only the spring slowly unclench her. If you are replacing only the shock absorber, the spring is compressed.
6. Check all elements of the suspension strut for wear, damage or deformation. Check for smooth stroke shock absorber.
7. Check the shock absorber for leaks, as well as its stock on pitting along the entire length. In the presence of defects replace the shock lie down.
8. Coil springs are identified by colored labels, and if necessary replace the spring, it is desirable to replace both springs simultaneously.

A warning

The new spring has a corrosion-resistant paint. Before installing the spring, check the integrity of the coating and, if necessary, touch up the spring.

Assembly

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. If you are installing a new spring, squeeze the spring compressor.
2. Place all the parts on the shock absorber strut.
3. The lower spring coil set so that it is correctly located at the bottom of a plate spring.
4. Screw the hexagonal nut (see. Fig. Strut front suspension) on the shock-absorber rod and tighten it to 60 Nm. To keep the absorber rod from rotating using a curved hexagonal wrench 7 mm.
5. Slowly unclench the adaptation for spring compression. Check that the end turns of the spring is properly positioned in the spring plate.
6. Install the spring strut.
