Check brake pad wear

Every 15 000 km or vehicle once a year, check the thickness of the front and rear brake linings.

Disc brakes
Check wear on the brake pads of disc brakes performed as follows:
visually estimate the thickness of the brake pads. If necessary, use a portable lamp and a small mirror.
If a visual inspection is difficult, remove the wheel;
Measure the thickness of the outer brake pad with a metal base pads. The thickness of the inner brake pad determine visually;
master front and rear disc brake wear limit is achieved if the thickness is 7 mm with a metallic base pads. In this case, all the brake pads on one axis must be replaced.

NOTE
Under the most adverse operating conditions of a vehicle brake pad wear is not more than 1 mm per 1000 km of running a car. During normal operation of the vehicle service life of the brake pad is at least 30 000 km mileage.

Drum brakes
Checking the wear of brake linings of drum brakes performed as follows:

Location cork, closing the inspection hole on the brake board

remove the plug inspection hole on the inside of the brake shield (Fig. 12.2);
using a portable lamp to visually assess the thickness of the brake lining;
If any lining thickness was reduced to 2.5 mm, replace all the rear brake pads;
