Checking the pistons, piston rings and cylinder bore

Checking the thermal gap of piston rings
Will drive ring from above at right angles to the bottom of the cylinder bore at a distance of about 15 mm from its edge.

Checking piston ring gap height

Checking piston ring gap height
Fig. 2.157. Checking piston ring gap height

Before checking, clean the annular groove.

Checking the pistons

Measure the diameter of the piston
Fig. 2.158. Measure the diameter of the piston

Measured approximately 10 mm from the bottom edge, perpendicular to the piston pin axis.
The maximum permissible deviation from the nominal size - max. 0.04 mm.

Check the diameter of the cylinder
Swipe crosswise measurements at three locations in the transverse direction A and the longitudinal direction B.
The maximum permissible deviation from the nominal size of 0.08 mm.

NOTE
Measurement of the cylinder can not produce if the cylinder block is fixed tilter engine and gearbox on the bench, since errors can occur when measuring.

Dimensions of pistons and cylinders

NOTE
The dimensions do not include graphite coating (thickness 0.02 mm) graphite coating wears away over time.
