Changing the oil differential (every 48 000 km (30,000 miles) or every two years)

Draining

The procedure is performed after the heating oil during a short trip. Warming up is necessary to facilitate the leaking oil.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Poddomkratte car and establish it on props.
  2. The easiest way to empty the differential is sucking oil through the filler hole using a suction pump. If there are leaks through the gasket differential cover, drain oil can be carried out in the (necessary in this case) remove the cover of the differential. It also becomes possible to make an inspection of the internal components.

Changing oil using a suction pump

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove from the differential fill plug (Section Checking the oil differential (every 12 000 km (7500 miles) or time in 6 months)).
  2. Insert the hose into the hole.
  3. Push the hose into the differential, lower it to the bottom end of the housing, and start to suck the oil with the help of pump.
  1. This method is the simplest differential emptying: differential push inside the hose is pushed to the bottom end of the housing and start sucking oil by a pump connected to the opposite end of the hose.

Changing the oil by removing the cover of the differential

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Place under the car drain capacity, rags, old newspapers and wrenches.
  2. Give bolts of the lower half of the cover. Loosen the top bolts leaving them screwed for fixing the cover. Allow the oil to drain into the drain capacity, then lift the cover.
  3. A clean, lint-free cloth, wipe the inside of the lid and the inner surface of the available areas of the differential housing. Then check the drained oil in the presence of a fragment of gear teeth and small metal filings, talking about the need for a more thorough check the status of the internal components of the differential and the refurbishment or replacement.
  4. Carefully smooth out interfaced surfaces of the housing and the differential cover plate. With gasket scraper to remove all traces of their old gasket material.
  5. Put on an interfaced surface of the cover flange sealant RTV, then press to cover a new gasket. Ensure correct alignment of the bolt holes of the flange and gasket. Replace the cover.

Bay

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. With the help of a hand pump, a syringe or funnel tuck differential oil grades required so that its level reached the lower edge of the filler hole.
  2. Replace the filler plug and tighten it securely.
