Check of cooling system (every 4800 km (3000 miles) or once every 3 months)

Many of the global engine failures are related to violation of the system cooling. If the vehicle is equipped with AT cooling system also provides cooling and transmission fluid, playing an important role in extending the life of the transmission.

Check the cooling system must be done when the engine is cold (before the first day of the trip or after at least three hours after switching off the engine).

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove the radiator cap by turning it counterclockwise until it stops. If in the process of loosening the lid there is a hissing sound (indicating the presence of residual pressure in the system), wait for its termination. Now press the lid down with his hand, turn even more to the left and remove from the heat sink. Rinse thoroughly cover both outside and inside with clean water. Wipe also the filler neck of the radiator. Should be removed all traces of corrosion. Coolant within the radiator has to be relatively transparent. If the cooler is the color of rust, the system must be emptied, rinsed and fill fresh mixture (Section Maintenance of the cooling system (emptying, washing and refueling) (each 48 000 km (30,000 miles) or every two years)). If the coolant level does not reach the top of the sink, make topping mixed in the desired proportions of antifreeze with water (Section Check of levels of liquids (each 400 km (250 miles) run or weekly)).
  2. Carefully check the condition of the upper and lower radiator hoses with a smaller diameter hoses coming from the engine to the engine compartment bulkhead. Check the hoses along their entire length, replacing all of which are found in the cracks, blisters or signs of aging rubber. Small cracks easier to see when the compression of the hose. Regardless of their status is a good habit to replace the hose every two years.
  3. Make sure of reliability of fastening of all hose connections and the strength of the tightening clamps. Leaks in cooling system are usually manifested in the form of deposits of white or rusty-brown color in the areas of their sources. When mounting hoses on the fittings used clamps of the pitch type, it is wise to replace them with more reliable screw (worm).
  4. When using compressed air or a soft brush / brush to remove remains of insects, old leaves, etc. of the gaps between the plates of the radiator and the condenser of the air conditioner. Try not to damage the thin fins and not to injure your fingers on them.

At the first sign of trouble functioning of the cooling system should be checked the radiator cap and the system pressure. If your order is no special equipment to carry out such a test, it can be implemented at low cost in virtually any auto service shop or a gas station.
