Checking the oil level differential (every 12 000 km (7500 miles) or time in 6 months)

All-wheel drive (4WD) models are equipped with two differentials - oil levels must be checked in both.

The front differential is equipped with a threaded stopper level control / Gulf oil, while the rear differential filling hole plugged with a rubber stopper-stopper. To check the oil level in the differentials both plugs must be removed. If the car poddomkrachen to facilitate access to the plug, make sure the reliability of its installation on props - DO not perform any work underneath the car, secured in the raised position by means of a jack (s)! To ensure the reliability of test results the car should be installed horizontally.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove the cap level control / Gulf oil to cover the differential housing.
  1. With ratchet drive complete with extension 3/8 inch (9 mm), remove the cap level control / Gulf front differential oil.
  1. On the rear differential a small screwdriver to pry the rubber stopper and remove it from the filler hole - note containing important information data mounted on the cover of the differential housing label (arrow).
  1. The oil level should reach the lower edge of the filler hole. If this condition is not satisfied, make a topping with a syringe or nipples with elastic walls. Topping only produce the desired grade of oil and keep it up until the oil begins to flow over the edge of the hole. On some models (especially equipped with limited slip differential) in the area of installation of the plug attached label with information about the requirements for oil grade.
  2. Install the plug and tighten it securely.
