Replacing brake pads on the rear drum brakes



The brake pads on the rear drum brakes

1 - screws;

Withdrawal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Lift the rear side of the car and fix on supports.
2. Remove the rear wheels and remove the parking brake cable.
3. Remove the two screws and remove the brake drum.

A warning

If the brake drum is difficult to remove, gradually and evenly tighten the bolts in the two holes (8 mm) and remove the brake drum.


4. Remove the upper return spring.
5. Remove the front and rear brake pads and terminals on the back of a brake board, remove the rack supporting the brake pads.
6. Remove spring and spring debounce control.
7. Mark the position of the adjusting straps and remove the lower return spring.
8. Remove the clip and washer and remove the parking brake cable from the back of the brake pad.
9. Remove the front and rear brake pads.
10. Clean all parts rear brake brake cleaner and dry.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Lift the rear side of the car and fix on supports.
2. Remove the rear wheels and remove the parking brake cable.
3. Remove the two screws and remove the brake drum.

A warning

If the brake drum is difficult to remove, gradually and evenly tighten the bolts in the two holes (8 mm) and remove the brake drum.


4. Examine the wheel cylinders for leakage of brake fluid.
5. Measure the thickness of the rear brake pads. Replace all the brake pads on the same axle of a vehicle, even if only one block has a thickness less than the maximum allowable.

Minimum thickness: 1.0 mm
6. Check the brake linings for contamination with oil or grease, deterioration and cracks.
7. Measure the inner diameter of the brake drum. Replace the brake drum if the inner diameter of the drum exceeds the limit.

Maximum diameter: 200 mm
8. Check the brake drums for cracks, grooves, or uneven wear. If necessary, chisel or replace the brake drum.
9. Check the uniformity of the brake pad to fit brake drum.

Setting

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Grease for brake grease the following points of contact pads:
a. brake pad contact point with the wheel cylinder;
b. the point of contact with struts supporting the brake pads;
c. the point of contact of brake pads with brake shield.
2. Set the adjusting bar and the sleeve about the same position as they were before removal.
3. Install the rear brake pads, plug the parking brake cable and secure it with a washer and clip.
4. Install the front brake pads and connect the front and rear brake pads lower return spring.
5. Install the brake pad assembly on the base plate with the adjustment bar installed between the front and rear brake pads.
6. On the back of the brake shield and install racks, clamps, fix them brake pads.
7. Check the installation of an adjusting lath and set the upper return spring.
8. Install the spring and spring control debounce.
9. Install the brake drum and fasten it with two screws.
10. Adjust the brakes.
11. Install rear wheels and secure them with nuts.

Torque: 88-118 N ??? m
