Features of operation of vehicles equipped with automatic transmission (AT)

At issue in the present manual cars installed 4-speed AT with electronic control. AT selector lever is placed in the bottom of the center console.

Lever AT, the principle of switching modes

Output selector lever out of position ?P? can be made only when the ignition is switched on, the brake pedal depressed and remove the lock button is pressed.

Do not increase the engine speed ? mode selected forward or backward, and the brake pedal depressed. Switching Transmission ? from position ?N? / ?P? in the operating position must be done at engine idle speed - hold the brake pedal down!

Indicators position selector AT

The transmission range selector lever can be in one of six fixed positions.

Emergency unlocking of the selector lever in position ?P?.

The structure of a combination of devices equipped with automatic transmission models are built additional indicator lights, allowing the driver to easily control the position of the range selector AT (see. Section A combination of devices, meters, warning lights and indicator lights).

The assignment of the selector lever AT

Starting is only possible in the positions ?P? and ?N? of the lever. If you stop the car performed when the AT is located in one of the range of motion (?D?, ?2?, ?L?, ?R?, or ?N?), you must completely release the gas pedal and squeeze the brake pedal, or cock parking brake.

While translating the selector lever out of position ?N? to any of the provisions of the motion required to squeeze the brake pedal.

The position "P"

Before leaving the vehicle and do not forget to cock the parking brake.

Removing the key from the ignition becomes possible only after the transfer of the selector lever to position "P".

In this position, the selector lever is blocked transmission and drive wheels of the vehicle. Translation transmission in parking position should be made only after a full stop of the car.

Move the selector lever to position ?P? while driving leads to blocking of the drive wheels, and carries a risk of serious internal damage to the transmission!

To display Transmission position "P" is necessary to squeeze the brake pedal and press the release button on the lock lever.

The position ?R?

This position of the lever of selector AT is used for reversing.

Switching the transmission in position ?R? in progress involves risk of serious internal injuries! If the reverse is not included when the vehicle is stopped, depress the brake pedal and slowly move the selector lever in the first position ?N?, then to ?R?.

The position ?N?

In this position the AT wheels and transmission are not locked and the car can be moved, by rolling in any position of the transfer case.

Use position ?N? when starting the engine stalled on the go, as well as short stops the car with the engine running. If you need to exit out of the car, do not forget to pre-translate the lever in position "P".

In the derivation of the lever out of position ?N? Do not forget to squeeze the brake pedal.

Position ?D?

This provision is used in most cases when driving in a city cycle and unloaded on highways. In this position, used the full range of forward gears shift maintaining the optimum ratio of power / fuel consumption, and in appropriate situations automatically activated engine braking.

In order to improve the efficiency of return from cold switch ? AT 4th gear when the coolant temperature is below 70 ? C is blocked.

Squeezing the throttle pedal to the point of overcoming resistance leads to activate the kickdown, which leads to the automatic switching of the transmission into a lower gear in order to improve throttle response, for example when overtaking.

Position "2"

In this position, the range of the automatic transmission is limited by the switching of the 1st and 2nd gears.

It recommended for taking more power when climbing hills and for engine braking on descents. Furthermore, in this mode reduces the probability of slippage of the wheels on the slippery road surface. Switching from 2nd gear to 1st occur at speeds below 43 km / h. The upper limit speed in this mode is 60 km / h.

Exceeding the upper speed limits associated with the risk of a failure of AT due to overheating!

The position ?L?

This mode is recommended for use when towing heavy loads or driving on a steep incline. The upper limit of the speed of motion in a ?L? is 35 km / h.

Exceeding the upper speed limits associated with the risk of a failure of AT due to overheating!

Winter mode (HOLD)

When driving with HOLD mode does not exceed the maximum value of the engine speed!

HOLD is essentially a winter mode and is recommended for use while driving on a slippery road surface, as well as for engine braking on steep descents.

Activation of HOLD mode causes a change in the algorithm shift motion in the position ?D? gear lever - range switching is limited to two transfers, "2" and "3", ie, moving off the car from the scene will be the second transmission followed by switching to the third.

Activation of HOLD mode to "2?, ?L? and ?R? of the lever does not affect the algorithm switching AT.

The power button is located on the handle of the mode selector lever directly under a large release button lock. Serviceability of activation mode by turning to the left side of the built-in instrument cluster indicator light (see. Section A combination of devices, meters, warning lights and indicator lights). Disabling carried out using the same button - the indicator should go out.

Transition signal indicator HOLD mode flash mode in a malfunction of transmission - contact the service station of the company KIA!

Sport mode (POWER)

Sport mode AT switch is located on the instrument panel to the right of the steering column (see. Section Controls and interior equipment).

Under normal driving sport mode should be turned off, - with the gear shift will be made by the algorithm, provides maximum fuel economy (to "ECO" push-button).

Activating sport mode (position ?POWER? switch) is only possible in the positions ?D? ?2? or ?L? the selector lever, and in the latter two cases, the algorithm switching box will not change. In position ?D? of mode POWER lever activation causes a delay in the switching of transmission upshifts, ie, switching will occur at higher engine speeds, which ensures a better vehicle dynamics.

Activation of HOLD mode leads to an automatic stop mode POWER.

Lock switching and alarm output selector lever out of position ?P?

Removing the key from the ignition switch can only be in the "P" of the selector lever knob.

In order to ensure the safety of the driver and passengers AT is equipped with a locking system that prevents the possibility of withdrawal of the selector lever from position ?P? when the foot brake pedal is released.

Depress the brake pedal, start the engine / ignition switch and then (without releasing the pedal) press the release button lock on the handle and move the lever to the desired position.

If you repeatedly press and release the brake pedal in the parking position, the transmission in the gear selector lever may cause noise, which does not indicate a malfunction and should not be cause for concern.

In case of refusal unlock (to bring lever from "P" in the normal way is not possible), proceed as follows:
