Operating principle

Home metering system

Home metering system carburettor Stromberg 175 CDT

1 - cover
2 - piston
3 - spring
4 - jet

5 - needle
10 - Throttle

The vacuum created by the engine in the intake pipe is supplied into the hood 1, which ensures lifting of the piston 2, the pressure under which is equal to atmospheric. As soon as the force produced by suction and force mounted inside the cap 3 of the spring are balanced, the piston position is stabilized, and it gives access to a certain amount of air and provide a dosage of fuel intake orifice 4 by the conical needle 5, the regulating orifice nozzle needle 4. The form of specially selected to achieve the best dosage of fuel in any position of the piston in the cover.

The idling

The piston is in the position of providing minimum access of air and fuel.

Adjustment of idling by varying degrees of half-open throttle.

Installed in the bottom of the nozzle solenoid valve shuts off the fuel to the carburetor when the engine is stopped and in case of exceeding the maximum engine speed mode.

Enrichment of the fuel mixture during acceleration

Oil shock absorber slows the rise of the piston under the action of vacuum in the bell. The inlet depression affects the jet. This ensures the supply of additional fuel.

Starting device

The trigger carburetor Stromberg 175 CDT

2 - piston
6 - spool
7 - trigger
8 - Ball Valve

9 - thermostatic
10 - Throttle
11 - lever economizer

Enriching fuel-air mixture when starting a cold engine is spool 6 orifices, provides increased idle speed (by receipt of additional air) and increasing the amount of fuel supplied.

Moving the spool is regulated by the starting device with electric (heating with a time delay) and pneumatic (due to the vacuum in the intake manifold), the effect of which is adjusted depending on the temperature of the coolant. Under the action of the spring diaphragm actuator device 7, under the action of the atmospheric pressure, opening the ball valve 8, which gives access to the fuel-air mixture enriched in the slide valve controlled by a thermostat. After starting the engine valve is gradually closed, its opening overlap, limiting the flow of the combustible mixture.

After starting the engine thermostatic valve 9 closes the channel of communication with the atmosphere of the starting device. Under the influence of the vacuum in the intake manifold ball valve 8 is closed and the valve 6 rises. Enriching fuel-air mixture is terminated.
