Replacing brake pads handbrake



The parking brake is integrated into the brake drum.

Withdrawal

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Fully release the parking brake and loosen drive cable, refer to Section brake system checked. Adjusting the parking brake.
2. Mark a paint position of the rear wheels relative to the hub. This allows the assembly to establish BALANCED wheels in their former position. Loosen the wheel bolts before jacking the car. Lift the rear of the car, put it on supports and remove the rear wheels.

3. Remove the rear brake caliper, refer to the appropriate section.
4. Remove the brake disc, refer to the appropriate section.

Before removing individual components of the drum brake, remember their location. As an example, use the brake on the other side.

5. Remove the return spring (1) from the brake pads (3) by means of special pliers (2) or a screwdriver.

6. Turn the flange of the drive shaft (1) so that the screw hole is above the compression spring (2).

7. Slightly compress the spring (2) with a tool MERCEDES-BENZ 040 (3) or a screwdriver to rotate it by 90 ?� and remove.

These tools can be made independently. For this purpose, one end of a rod of appropriate diameter weld the handle and at the other end PROPYLENE groove depth of about 4 mm and a width of about 2.5 mm.

8. Similarly, remove the compression spring to the second brake shoe.

9. Pull apart the two brake shoes (1) and remove it through the flange of the drive shaft. Note the position of the adjusting mechanism, it is necessary to follow proper installation.

10. Remove the return spring (4) from the brake pad and remove the adjusting mechanism (parts 1 to 3).

11. Squeeze the finger (5) to the expander lock (6) and remove the lock from the brake cable.


Setting

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. If the pads were in the brake pads were burned, you must also replace the locking spring pad.
2. Apply a thin layer all the support and sliding surface on the spacer castle. As a lubricant, use high-temperature paste (eg, LIQUI MOLY LM-36, MOLYKOTE-PASTE-U or G-RAPID).
3. Dismantle the adjustment mechanism. Grease lubricated high thread pressure element (1) and the cylindrical portion of the adjusting gear (2).
4. Replace the pressure element (1) in the adjusting wheel (2) and insert into the gland (3). This pressure element screw completely.
5. Attach the parking brake cable with a finger on the spacer castle. Then click the lock spacer in the direction of the brake shield. When installing, take care to lock the movable element spacer showed up.
6. Insert the adjustment mechanism between the two brake pads so that the pressure element in the direction of the show.
7. Connect the first return spring (4) from the brake shoe. Check the connection.
8. Stretch the brake pads, insert them through the flange of the drive shaft and connected with the spacer lock.

9. Insert the compression spring (1) with a tool 040 MERCEDES-BENZ (3) or a screwdriver (2) through a threaded hole in the brake pad, squeeze it a little, turn it 90 ?�, and connect with a locking ring. Check the connection of the spring. Hook pressure spring has to be fixed to the inner side of the brake shield.

10. Connect the compression spring with a second brake shoe.

11. Depending on the second return spring has its ends on different sizes of hooks. Connect the second return spring spacer with a small lock hook over the top the brake pads. Large hook (arrow in the illustration) with a screwdriver connected to the lower brake shoe.

12. Install the rear brake disc, refer to the appropriate section.
13. Install the rear caliper, please refer to the appropriate section.
14. Reinstall the rear wheels so that coincided marks put at removal. Preliminary grease with a thin layer of bearing grease centering the belt drive wheel on the hub. Bolts do not grease the wheels. Rusty bolts replace. Tighten the screws. Lower the car on wheels and tighten bolts cross-wise the moment of 110 nm.
15. Adjust the parking brake, refer to Section brake system checked. Adjusting the parking brake.

Several times, press firmly on the brake pedal until it reaches a noticeable resistance. Thus, the brake pads are adjacent to the drive and take your position.

16. Check brake fluid level in the tank, if necessary, add a liquid to a mark MAX.

Spend Control Reliability:

?� Whether the brake hoses are fixed?
?� Assigned Whether the brake hose in the holder?
?� For loose bleed screws?
?� Flooded there enough brake fluid?
?� With the engine running, check for leaks. For this purpose depress the brake pedal force of 200 - 300 N (20 - 30 kg) for 10 seconds. The pedal should not weaken. Check all connections for leaks.
