Initial inspection

At full or partial system failure hydrostrengthening steering essential immediately to make the following checks. Only on the basis of the results can begin to repair and reconditioning.

Checking the status of the steering pump drive belt

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Inspect belt for cracks, zapolirovat polished areas and other damage. If necessary, replace a belt. As replaceable use only branded belt.
  2. If there has been a weakening of the tensile force is still fit for further use of the belt, make the necessary adjustments.

Usually the first sign of easing tension drive belt is the emergence during turns or acceleration engine screech associated with an increase in the load on the steering pump.

Checking the level of hydraulic fluid

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Check the fluid level in the reservoir system hydrostrengthening steering (see. Accompanying illustration) .If check is performed immediately after the operation of the vehicle, use a range of notes on the blade of the probe. Accordingly, when the engine is cold, use a range of COLD.
  1. If necessary, add the desired amount of liquid, bringing it to the level of the corresponding marks on the dipstick. Use only the liquid of a demanded grade (see. Table sizes and adjustments in the end of this manual).

Do not exceed nominal level of liquid in the tank.

Checking hydraulic fluid leaks

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Using a suitable solvent clean surface of suspected leakage source node lines and compression fittings hydraulic system. Start the engine and some times turn a steering wheel from lock to lock, then again stop the engine. Inspect components for signs of leaks. If necessary, tighten the slack couplings and recheck.

Do not tighten the flare nuts with excessive force.

  1. When pulling the choke compounds did not lead to corrective action, refer to Section simple check and adjustment, and disconnect the faulty line.
  2. If the source of the leak is located in the assembly of the steering pump and the tank of hydraulic fluid required the intervention of a specialist.

Check of effort of turning the steering wheel

A prerequisite of this test is the correct tire inflation pressure adjustment and alignment of the front wheels. The vehicle must be parked on level ground with dry asphalt or concrete surface.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Start the engine and cock a lay brake.
  2. Warm up the engine to idle until normal operating temperature, some times turn a steering wheel from lock to lock with the purpose of warming up the hydraulic fluid steering system gain.
  1. Pick up the steering wheel spring balance (see. Accompanying illustration) and measure the force required for steering at least one turn in both directions from the straight position. Compare the measurement with the regulatory requirements (see. Table sizes and adjustments in the end of this manual).
