PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Poddomkratte the front of the car and establish it on props. You may need to remove the left front wheel to provide access to the left front ball joint.
  2. On models of early years of release give nut steering damper to the steering track rod, remove the washer. Give a nut and bolt fastening the damper to the transverse torque rods and remove the damper from the car.

On some models, the steering damper in place cross-reactive rod is attached to the chassis frame. In this case, you must pay instead referred to the appropriate fasteners.

  1. On models of late years of release give nuts at both ends of the steering damper rod holding it still with a wrench. Remove the washer and rubber sleeve, then remove the steering damper from the car.
  2. Remove the cotter pins from the castellated nuts at both ends of the tie rod. Remove the nuts.
  3. If available in the puller, use it to release the ball joint tie rod from the steering knuckle and pitman arm steering.
  4. If puller is not available, remove the ball joint, by pressing one of the striker hammer to a corresponding planting the ear, and the second hammer blows to the back of the ear.
  5. Remove the tie rod from the car. Check cravings for cracks and signs of strain, in case of need make replacement.
  6. Check the ball joints in the presence of axial play, which hold the hinge in one hand and the other tried to shake from side to side of the ball pin. If backlash occurs, replace the transverse rod.
  7. Check the force turning the ball joint, which screw nuts, clamp rod in a vise and turn the ball pin with a sensitive torque wrench (sm.soprovoditelnuyu illustration). Rated force turning the ball joint is in the range between 1.0 and 4.9 Nm. If necessary, replace the thrust.
1 - Torque Wrench
2 - replaceable face head
3 - two nuts
4 - the ball joint
5 - Vise
  1. Check the condition of the anther ball fingers. Replace defective.
  2. Check the status of all threads, replace defective components.
  3. Hold both ends of the steering damper and several times strongly squeeze it until end of turn. In the presence of jerks and jamming points damper must be replaced.
  4. Inspect the damper body for dents, other damage or fluid leakage. If necessary, replace.
  5. Check the condition of rubber plugs damper supports. Replace defective hub.

Setting

Installation is in the reverse order.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Tighten the crown nut with a force of 46 ÷ 54 Nm.
  2. Cotter pins must be replaced without fail.
  3. Lubricate all joints with grease recommended type (see. Table sizes and adjustments in the end of this manual).

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Poddomkratte the front of the car and establish it on props. Perhaps to provide access to the hinges need to remove the wheels.
  2. Remove the cotter pins castellated nuts at both ends of the connecting rod. Give nuts.
  3. In the presence of a stripper, use it to release the ball joint rod tip from a rotary fist.
  4. If a stripper were not available, proceed to alternative method described for the transverse link joints.
  5. Remove the connecting rod from the car.
  6. Check cravings for cracks and signs of strain. If necessary, replace.
  7. Check the ball joints tips for any axial play, which hold the hinge in one hand and the other tried to shake from side to side of the ball pin. If backlash occurs, replace the connecting rod.
  8. Check the force turning the ball joint, which screw nuts, clamp rod in a vise and turn the ball pin with a sensitive torque wrench. Rated force turning the ball joint is in the range between 1.0 and 4.9 Nm. If necessary, replace the appropriate rod tip.
  9. Check the condition of the anther ball fingers. Replace defective.
  10. Check the status of all threads, replace defective components.

Setting

Installation is in the reverse order.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Measure the length of the rod between the centers of spherical hinges of tips. The nominal value of approximately 1270 mm. if necessary, make adjustments. The tips protrude from the rod approximately the same number of threads (parts connecting the tip of steering draft are shown in an accompanying illustration).
1 - connecting rod
2 - a nut
3 - Washer
4 - a collar
5 - a bolt
6 - tip
7 - pin
  1. Tighten the crown nut with a force of 46 ÷ 54 Nm.
  2. Cotter pins must be replaced without fail.
  3. Tighten the locking collars connecting steering rod tip with a force of 25 ÷ 28 Nm.
  4. Lubricate all joints with grease recommended type (see. Table sizes and adjustments in the end of this manual).
  5. Check the convergence of the front wheels of the car, if necessary, make adjustments.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Poddomkratte the front of the car and establish it on props.
  2. Remove the cotter pins from the castellated nuts at both ends of the longitudinal steering rod. Give nuts.
  3. In the presence of a stripper, use it to disconnect the ball joints of the longitudinal thrust of the connecting rod assembly and idler arm lateral traction.
  4. If a stripper were not available, proceed to alternative method described for the hinge rod models of Hardtop and the Versatile.
  5. Remove the longitudinal traction from the vehicle.
