Removal and installation of the power unit

Fuel filter diesel engines

1 - spring bracket;

2 - valve;

3 - the fuel pipe;

4 - the fuel pipe

The engine with the gearbox is removed from the car down from the engine compartment. When removing the power unit need to use the crane. Also, the power unit can be lowered by using a special lift with a motor mount.

In order to provide sufficient working space under the car, you must use the four goat or automobile lift platform or a viewing hole.

Depending on the progress of production and the vehicle in the engine compartment may be located on different electrical wires, pipes and hoses. Therefore, before disconnecting the electrical connectors and disconnect tubing or hose it is recommended to mark them with adhesive tape.

Special tools and aids:

- Crane to lift the engine;
- Collet for band clamps;
- Lifting the seizure;
- Grease based on molybdenum disulfide;
- Torque wrench, which provides moments of a tightening of 5-50 Nm;
- Torque wrench, which provides moments of a tightening 40-200 Nm;
- Clip.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

A warning

All clips and clamps, which are unscrewed when removing the engine, or cut, you need to install the assembly in the engine the same places, so it is possible to mark the installation position with adhesive tape. When disconnecting electrical connectors, release the locking wire and then disconnect the electrical connector.

1. Remove a wire of weight from the accumulator.

A warning

When disconnecting the battery clears the memory cells, for example, a radio receiver code. Without the code, the radio can reconnect only to the manufacturer.

2. Remove the battery.
3. Remove the battery holder and remove them (the arrows indicate the nuts of the battery).
4. Remove the starter.
5. Remove the bottom mudguard of a motor compartment.
6. Remove the left and right drive shafts from gearbox flange. Using a soft wire, tie the ends of the drive shafts to the anti-roll bar or body.
7. Drain the coolant from the cooling system.
TDI engine
8. Remove the pipe connecting the radiator nadduvaemogo air intake manifold.
SDI Engine
9. Remove the pipe connecting the radiator nadduvaemogo air and air filter.
10. Loosen and remove the V-ribbed belt.
Remove the starter.
11. Remove the power steering pump from the bracket and, using a soft wire, hang it on the body. Do not disconnect the hose from the pump and do not bend the hoses.
Cars with air conditioning
12. Remove the screws that secure the air conditioning compressor and, without disconnecting from it hoses, move aside the compressor and secure it with a soft wire (A - the upper bolt, B - bottom bolt).

A warning

Not disconnects the air conditioning ducts.

13. Remove a reception exhaust pipe and catalyst.
14. Loosen the clamps, Mark and disconnect the vacuum hose from the turbocharger and the air intake pipe.
15. Disconnect all the electrical connectors from the engine and gearbox.
16. Release the spring clip (1) (see. Fig. Fuel filter diesel engines) and remove the unit from the hoses to the valve (2). Loosen the hose clamps and remove the fuel hoses from the nipples (3 and 4). Close the ends of the fuel hose foil or suitable stoppers in order to avoid the ingress of dirt.
17. Disconnect from the bulkhead coolant hoses to the radiator heater.
18. Disconnect from the engine body and the hoses going to the expansion tank and move them aside.
19. Disconnect the pipes from the radiator cooling system.
20. Lift up and secure the expansion tank with the bracket.
Vehicles with manual transmission
21. Remove the shift mechanism and the clutch slave cylinder from the gearbox.

A warning

After removing the clutch slave cylinder, do not press the clutch pedal.

Cars with automatic transmission
22. Remove the brackets that hold the pressure line to the power steering gearbox. Disconnect the control cable from the automatic transmission gear lever.
23. At the bottom of the engine compartment, unscrew the screws (indicated by arrows) and remove pendulum support that supports the engine and transmission.
24. Lift the car so that the distance between the car and the ground is at least 60 cm.

Removal of the power unit by crane

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Place the wood flooring size 30 x 40 cm thickness of about 15 cm below the sump.
2. Using a special device, hook the power unit for the lifting lugs of the power unit.
3. In the absence of special tools to support the use of the engine circuit.
4. Lift the lifting device so that the weight of the power unit was seen lifting mechanism.

Removing the engine special holder

A special holder is a hydraulic lift VAG 1383A to engine bracket T10012.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Place the bottom of a special holder in the hole near the engine oil pan and secure the engine bolts, having tightened their moment of 25 Nm. Lift the engine mount so that the weight of the power unit was perceived by the holder.
2. Remove the bolts securing the upper right support of the power unit (indicated by arrows).
3. Unscrew the screws (indicated by arrows) and remove the left support of the power unit.
4. Check that all electrical connections are disconnected and hoses between the engine and transmission to the body.
5. When removing the engine using a crane to move the powerplant forward and, being careful, lower it on a wooden stand. Fasten the power unit in such a way to prevent it tipping over.
6. If necessary, disconnect the transmission from the engine.

Setting

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Check the support of the power unit and hoses for cracks or wear and, if necessary, replace them.
2. If the transmission is disconnected from the engine, check the condition of the clutch.
3. Install the power unit in the engine compartment and align it in the following way.
4. Attach the right support of the power unit with new bolts, having tightened them at this stage of the hand.
5. Secure pendulum support with new bolts of the power unit, tightened them at this stage of the hand.
6. Tighten the support of the power unit to torque (see. Tab. The tightening torques).

A warning

If not specified, the standard tightening torques of bolts as follows: M8 - 20 Nm M10 - 45 Nm M12 - 60 Nm.

7. If the compressor was shot, fix its bolts, having tightened their moment of 45 Nm.
8. Install the pumps'.
9. Install the starter.
10. Install the V-ribbed belt and adjust its tension.
TDI diesel engines
11. Install the pipe connecting the radiator nadduvaemogo air intake manifold, and fix it with clamps.
The diesel engine SDI
12. Install the pipe connecting the intake manifold and air filter.
13. Establish a reception exhaust pipe and catalytic converter with new gaskets.
14. Install the right and left drive shafts.
15. Connect the coolant hoses to the radiator heater in the bulkhead, and fix their collars.
16. Install the radiator fan.
Vehicles with manual
17. Connect the shift rod to the gearbox. Install the clutch slave cylinder.
Cars with automatic transmission
18. Install and secure the transmission bracket for discharge line power steering. Connect to the gearbox control cable and adjust it.
19. Connect the power unit disconnected electrical connectors and piping, fix their collars.
20. Connect the fuel hoses to the nipples (3 and 4 cm. Fig. Fuel filter diesel) fuel filter. The arrow on the fuel filter indicates the direction of the flow of fuel.
21. Replace and secure the holder battery.
22. Replace the battery, but at this stage, do not connect it to the earth wire.
23. Replace the valve (2) and secure with spring clip (1, see. Fig. Fuel filter diesel engines).
24. Check the electrical connectors and connecting pipes to the power package.
25. Check the oil level in the engine and transmission and, if necessary, finish it to norm.
26. Fill the cooling system with coolant.
27. Install the top casing of the engine.
28. Establish the bottom mudguard of a motor compartment.
29. Connect the ground cable to the battery.

A warning

Activate the power windows and set the time on the clock and enter the code in the radio.
