Replacement seals crankshaft

This procedure is one of those whose implementation does not require the removal of the engine from the car.

Front oil seal

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect the negative wire from the battery.
  2. Remove the four mounting bolts and remove the protection crankcase.
  3. Drain the engine oil (see chap. Current care and maintenance).
  4. Remove the timing belt (see chap. Current care and maintenance).
  5. Remove the retaining screw and remove the crankshaft gear timing - if necessary, use a stripper designed for removing the steering wheel.
  6. Remove the pin from the slot in the crankshaft woodruff key.
  7. Using a knife with a thin, flexible blade, cut end surface of the gland.
  1. Hooked soft cloth wrapped screwdriver, remove the seal from its landing nest in the case of the oil pump (1).
  1. Remove the oil pump assembly (see. Section Removal, installation and maintenance of the oil pump) and then manually thread the new oil seal in the mounting slot in the unit.
  1. By means of a press plant and a suitable mandrel gland in the slot is flush with the pump housing, - the mandrel abuts only in the end surface of the gland solid.
  1. The further installation is made in the reverse order of dismantle of components. Do not forget to follow the requirements of Specifications of the Head engine to the efforts of a tightening of threaded fasteners.
  2. Fill the engine with fresh engine oil.
  3. Start the engine and check the tightness of fit gland.
  4. Finally, check for correct installation of the ignition timing (see chap. Systems of an electric motor), if necessary, make any necessary corrections (correct fit timing belt, having tracked correctness of combination of adjusting labels - see. Head Current leaving and service).

Rear oil seal

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect the negative wire from the battery.
  2. Post the car off the ground.
  3. Remove the transmission (see chap. A five-speed manual gear box or an automatic transmission).
  4. On models with Manual transmission, remove the clutch assembly (see chap. The transmission line).
  5. With the help of a special device, lock the flywheel / drive plate from turning (see.
  6. Remove the six mounting bolts and remove a flywheel / drive plate.
  7. Remove the six mounting bolts and remove the back cover of the engine.
  1. Having hooked a suitable screwdriver, remove the old seal from its landing slot.
  1. Please rate the condition of the flywheel / drive disc and clutch components (models with Manual transmission). Replace defective components.
  2. Lightly oil the sealing lip of the new oil seal and the wall of the receiving hole in the back of the engine clean motor oil.
  1. Carefully thread the seal (1) into the cap (2).
  1. With the help of the press and suitable mandrel plant gland into the slot flush with the surface of the lid - a mandrel rests only in the end face of the solid gland.
  1. Replace the back cover and secure it with screws.
  2. Install the flywheel / drive plate. Grease the threaded part of the pre-stripped fixing bolts sealant, fix them flywheel / drive plate locking it against rotation by means of a special device (see. - the bolts are tightened in three stages with strict compliance with the requirements of the Head Specifications Engine.

The threaded portion of the retaining bolts must be completely free from the old sealant - if you get one hundred percent clean fails, the corresponding bolt should be replaced.
