Replacement seals crankshaft
 | This procedure is one of those whose implementation does not require the removal of the engine from the car. |
Front oil seal | - Disconnect the negative wire from the battery.
- Remove the four mounting bolts and remove the protection crankcase.
- Drain the engine oil (see chap. Current care and maintenance).
- Remove the timing belt (see chap. Current care and maintenance).
- Remove the retaining screw and remove the crankshaft gear timing - if necessary, use a stripper designed for removing the steering wheel.
- Remove the pin from the slot in the crankshaft woodruff key.
- Using a knife with a thin, flexible blade, cut end surface of the gland.
| - Hooked soft cloth wrapped screwdriver, remove the seal from its landing nest in the case of the oil pump (1).

- Remove the oil pump assembly (see. Section Removal, installation and maintenance of the oil pump) and then manually thread the new oil seal in the mounting slot in the unit.
| - By means of a press plant and a suitable mandrel gland in the slot is flush with the pump housing, - the mandrel abuts only in the end surface of the gland solid.

- The further installation is made in the reverse order of dismantle of components. Do not forget to follow the requirements of Specifications of the Head engine to the efforts of a tightening of threaded fasteners.
- Fill the engine with fresh engine oil.
- Start the engine and check the tightness of fit gland.
- Finally, check for correct installation of the ignition timing (see chap. Systems of an electric motor), if necessary, make any necessary corrections (correct fit timing belt, having tracked correctness of combination of adjusting labels - see. Head Current leaving and service).
