The principle of operation of the diesel engine

In a diesel engine coming clean air exposed to the high compression ratio. Due to this in-cylinder temperature rises above the ignition temperature of diesel fuel. When the piston is in the position before TDC, in the compressed and heated to a temperature of + 600 ? C air injected diesel. Diesel fuel is ignited by itself, the spark plug is not required. On the cold engine the necessary ignition temperature is not reached, and so the engine needs Preheat. For this purpose, each vortex chamber is located a glow plug.

Fuel is drawn from the tank to the injection pump. The high pressure fuel pump (pump) to create the necessary injection pressure (130 bar) and fuel is distributed between the cylinders in the order of ignition. Simultaneously, a pump regulator controls the amount of fuel injection depending on the position of the gas pedal. Through the nozzles the fuel is injected into the swirl chamber of each cylinder. The shape of the air chamber in the compression stroke becomes definite whirling movement, which provides optimum mixing of the injected fuel with air. Before getting into the pump fuel passes through the fuel filter. They linger and water pollution. It is extremely important according to the instruction of drain sludge filter and replace it.

High pressure fuel pump unattended. All moving parts are lubricated by diesel fuel pump. Pump driven by the crankshaft through a timing belt, via which is also driven by the camshaft. Since a diesel engine operates with self-ignition, and can not be disabled by turning off the power of the ignition system, it has a solenoid valve. When you turn off the ignition interrupted power to the solenoid valve, and the valve closes the fuel supply passage.

This ensures the termination of the fuel supply to lock the steering column lock. When starting the engine to the solenoid valve is energized by the ignition key, and he opens the fuel supply passage.

When working on the injection system of the diesel engine should abide by the rules of purity, see chap. The power supply system, the carburettor, fuel injection system, Section rules of cleanliness at work with the power supply system.
