Manual transmission: oil level check
We need the following details: - All-wheel drive vehicles: construction of the check plug.
- Transmission oil according to the specification:
- Cars up to 9/89 MY .: temperature is above -18 ?� C: API GL - 4 or GL - 5 90 or SAE 80 W - 90, temperatures below -18 ?� C: ATF Dexron - II.
- Cars since 10/89 MY .: API GL - 4 or GL - 5 75 W - 90 or ATF Dexron - II (BP DOHC: Only ATF Dexron - II).
Check Front-wheel drive cars | - Loosen the bolt on the speedometer gear shaft gearbox.
- Remove the gear together with the shaft of the speedometer from the gearbox housing.
- Wipe with a clean cloth gear and re-insert it.
| - Remove the speedometer pinion shaft and read the oil level. It must be between the F and L.

- Insert the pinion shaft of the speedometer and tighten the bolt.

All-wheel drive vehicles | - Raise the vehicle in a horizontal position.
- If present, remove the shield of the engine and gearbox.
- Visually check the gearbox for leaks.
| - Remove the check plug (depending on the direction of motion) from the front of the gearbox housing.
|
- The oil level should be at the height of the filler hole. If necessary, top up with gear oil.
- Install the check plug with a new seal and tightened to 55 Nm.
- If there is, install shield engine and gearbox.
- Lower the vehicle.
