Removal and installation / check of the coolant temperature sensor
Coolant temperature should be checked when cold engine starts badly or works intermittently. Coolant temperature depends of release and the engine or on the back side of the engine or the intake manifold. Withdrawal | | - Disconnect the coolant temperature sensor.
- Unscrew the temperature sensor. Place a clean container and collect the leaking coolant.
Check | | - Suspend the temperature sensor in the water tank and heating the water slowly.
- Measure the resistance of the temperature sensor with an ohmmeter. To do this, connect one terminal of the ohmmeter to the body, the other terminal of the ohmmeter to the terminal of the sensor.
Temperature | Resistance in ohms | -20 ? C | 14.2 - 17.8 | 20 ? C | 2.2 - 2.7 | 40 ? C | 1.0 - 1.3 | 60 ? C | 0.50 - 0.65 | 80 ? C | 0.29 - 0.35 |
Setting | - Install a temperature sensor with a new gasket and tighten with a force of 25 Nm.
- Adding coolant.
- Warm up the engine and run at idle until the radiator fan. Once again, check the coolant level.
