What you should know the owner of the car with a fuel-injected engine



Injection motors surpass carburettor in many respects, to take at least their cost and hassle-free start-up in cold weather. However, the carburetor in our environment are sometimes more advantageous. And even some automakers deliver to our market cars with such engines. It's all about the quality of petrol, which is sold in our country.

Injection engine is designed for high-grade gasoline, which is on our gas stations do not often find. Furthermore, different injection system have their own specific characteristics, they must be taken into account when operating the machine. But such systems in our market are many: with mechanical injection "K (KE) -Jetronic", electromechanical "L-Jetronic" and electronic: "Motronic", "Lucas", "Marelli".

Many systems have two modes: basic and emergency: the failure of one of the sensors. This problem driver might not notice: the instrument panel is no alarm and the engine continues to run (but not optimally). This often happens in "Audi-80" with the central injection. About a third of motorists having such machines are not even aware that the drive in emergency mode. This leads to increased fuel consumption, loss of power, rough engine operation and impair starting. Only fault is detected during a routine maintenance. Therefore, the "weak" places of each system, manifested in our conditions, it is necessary to dwell.

Mechanical injection systems. They are more likely than others, subject to physical wear. The fuel pressure regulator refuses usually through 80-120 thousand kilometers (noticeably worse to start the engine), nozzles: through 60-80 thousand (rough work of the engine, increased fuel consumption). Disclaimer nozzles especially insidious because it is not immediately notice. To diagnose and repair requires special equipment.

Sore injection electromechanical systems: air leak through multiple vacuum hoses, having a tendency to crack after 4-5 years of service. Especially for BMW and, to a lesser extent, the "Audi". To identify such a defect is difficult.

In electronic systems: the problems. For example, "hooked" the battery, and you have decided on an old habit "light" from the other car. As a result, malfunction of the unit. And the use of leaded gasoline, in turn, will result in deteriorated oxygen sensor and catalytic converter.

In general, both mechanical and electronic injection systems have their pros and cons. We often refuse to mechanical fuel pumps and dispensers, dispensers. In the electronic fuel pump more durable and cheaper, but any failure will be costly computer. In addition, the reasons for the failure of any system we have, alas, more than in Western Europe or America: poor-quality gasoline, a dirt road, and chemicals, which they sprinkle. Therefore it is necessary to listen to the recommendations of experts. Try to use imported gasoline, if there is such a possibility; to remove moisture from the fuel at each refueling fill the tank with a special preparation; every 10-15 thousand kilometers do full washing injection system.

Another feature: any failure fixes computer. And even after the replacement of defective parts it will give the wrong team: as long as the fault is not "erase" on a special stand.
