Charging the battery
The removed battery must be recharged once a month via the charger. Fully discharged batteries in the cold can freeze and burst, on the other hand, are cold-charged.
| Fig. 9.10. Charging the battery is best carried out in a similar device
|
1. Klemm positive wire to the positive terminal of the battery, negative - to negative (Fig. 9.10). 2. The charging current should be first about 10% of the battery capacity (for example, about 8 A battery 74 Ah) and a decrease in the charging process. 3. When charging the battery of the distilled water evaporates. This produces bubbles of hydrogen and oxygen. They are discharged through the vent holes in the battery cover. When they are mixed explosive gas is formed. 4. For this reason, make sure that the place where the battery is charged, is well ventilated. This is particularly important when using a high charging current.
A WARNING Sparks during donning and doffing the terminals of the charger could cause a gas explosion. Be sure to follow the precautions. |
5. The battery is fully charged, if the density of the electrolyte in the two measurements taken with a break of one hour, does not change. After charging, check the electrolyte level in the battery. If necessary, add distilled water.
