Removing the generator

SEQUENCE OF WORK

Withdrawal

1. Remove the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.

A WARNING

When disconnecting the battery is erased memory (eg radio code) of the electron-storage devices.

2. Loosen the accessory drive belt and remove from a generator pulley. On cars with a V6 or V8 engine, remove the fan with viscous coupling. Loosen the fastening of the generator to the engine, while the last turn away a bolt from the pulley on the left.

3. Remove the generator is more convenient from below the car, so make sure you pick up the car.

4. Remove the lower engine protection.

5. Remove the protective cover from the back of the generator, turn beneath the contact connection.

6. Do not forget the wire of "weight."

7. Unscrew and remove the upper and lower mounting bolts of the generator. Tightening torque for reassembly 42 Nm.

8. Pull down the generator (Fig. 9.12).

PRACTICAL ADVICE

Stir with a faulty generator

If the alternator or voltage regulator out of order, it is nevertheless possible to continue the movement. To provide consumers with energy to a rechargeable battery. Depending on the battery capacity and battery power should last for about 5 hours (unless, of course, do not include powerful consumers).

1. Unplug the power generator to the battery is not discharged through the faulty generator or regulator.

2. No need to try to stop. Especially a lot of energy is consumed by the starter. If possible, move coasting.

3. Do not turn the heated rear window, a fan and a radio.

4. Windshield wiper and washer switch only when necessary.

5. In the dark as much as possible, do not use high beams and fog lamps.
