Checking the level of electrolyte in the battery, service contacts.
The battery is located under the rear seat on the right side. It does not require maintenance. Nevertheless, it should be checked regularly electrolyte layer consisting of sulfuric acid diluted with distilled water. High outdoor temperature or malfunction of the generator voltage regulator can reduce the amount of water in the battery. In addition, the reasons for this may be self-discharge (a long break in service) or a strong discharge of powerful connected consumer (eg, refrigerator included in the cigarette lighter). For topping up, use only distilled water: tap or bottled water contains a conductive salt and other minerals, which cause damage to the battery.
A WARNING Battery electrolyte is dangerous. In case of contact with eyes, skin or clothing, wash it off with plenty of water. If necessary, consult a doctor. |
If the vehicle is equipped with a maintenance-free battery (at the top no holes), to service the battery is not necessary. In these batteries use a special gel electrolyte, there is no need to check the level and specific gravity. Such batteries can not be disassembled.
"Every year, 15 000 km of" 1. The level of the electrolyte in the battery should not be lower than the label ?MIN? on the body (upper edge of the electrode should be covered with electrolyte). 2. If the electrolyte level is too low, remove the plug with a screwdriver or pry. 3. In the fully charged battery add distilled water to the upper mark (about 15 mm above the top edge of the electrodes). 4. In a highly discharged battery water should just cover the top edge of the electrode. When charging level is greatly increased. After charging, add water to the top mark. 5. Do not overfill - in this case, the electrolyte is in contact with the lid or flow of the side air vents. It will cause corrosion and acid crystals on the surface of the battery and the site on which it is installed.
