Each appliance in the vehicle requires a certain current magnitude, so it is applied to conduct the necessary section. If the circuit of the device increases the current by connecting additional consumers or a short circuit, the wire is overloaded. As a result, the wire heats and may even start to melt, if the time will not be interrupted supply of electricity. That's what used fuses.
To the car in the event of any malfunction not remain completely de-energized, the fuses are distributed between the different circuits. Nevertheless, the connection between the battery, alternator, starter motor and ignition switch are not equipped with fuses.
Fuses with blade contacts type

Fuse
Location of fuses in various versions of E-class depends on the model year and equipment variant. Location of fuses in your car can be found in manual or memo on the cover of the fuse box.
The color of the plastic housing fuse corresponds to a maximum permissible value of the current (A): Brown - 7, 5; Red - 10; Blue - 15; Yellow - 20; green - 30; Orange - 40.
