Replacing brake fluid

To carry out the work, you will need:

? Allen wrench to loosen the bleed nipple.
? Transparent plastic hose inner diameter of 6 mm and a tank for collecting the brake fluid.
? The required amount of brake fluid corresponding to the specification.

Reused brake fluid is not re-apply. Old brake fluid is significantly darker than the fresh. This makes it easy to distinguish between them.

security measures

Brake fluid through the pores of the brake hoses and vents the tank absorbs moisture. Consequently, during the operation decreases the boiling point of the liquid. Under a heavy load on the brakes this may even lead to fogging, which reduces the efficiency of the brakes.

Brake fluid should be every 2 years, preferably in the spring, replaced by a new one. Frequent driving in mountainous terrain, the fluid must be replaced more often.

In SRT air brake system, it is usually removed in a special device. However, this can be done without the use of said device. This braking system pumped the brake pedal. This requires the participation of an assistant.

If in the process of removing the air from the brake fluid level drops sharply, it takes suction air entering the pump ABS. In this case, the removal of the air necessary to make the service station using a special device. When replacing any brake hose air from the system also need to remove the service station. Until you do this, you can not use the car.

Sequence of removal of air:

1. Caliper rear right;
2. Caliper rear left;
3. Caliper front right;
4. Caliper front left.

Pay attention to the safety notes when handling brake fluid, refer to the materials of Chapter 9.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. blower remove from the reservoir brake fluid leaving the tank bottom liquid layer thickness of about 10 mm. Do not remove all the liquid from the tank, otherwise the air gets into the brake system.

2. Fill the compensation tank with new brake fluid up to the MAX mark.
3. Carefully, so as not to collapse, open the bleed nipple. Recommended 2 hours before the start of venting process fitting rust remover. If the union does not open, then surgery to remove the air from the brake system should be entrusted to the studio.

4. On the right rear caliper disc brake wheel wear on the union of removal of air pure transparent hose and insert it into a suitable container.
5. Ask the assistant to press the brake pedal several times until the resistance of the pedal is pressed will not be noticeable. Press the pedal and open the bleed nipple. Fitting close after the brake pedal is rested on the floor of the body. Take your foot off the pedal. By repeating this process, approximately 400-500 ml pump out the old brake fluid.
6. Close the vent fitting and fill the compensation tank a new brake fluid.
7. In the same way the old pump out the brake fluid from other calipers or wheel cylinders, observing the sequence.

Attention! Brake fluid is drained in any case must be clean and without air bubbles. Each brake caliper must be pumped about 400-500 cm 3 of the old brake fluid.

8. The old brake fluid turn in a special paragraph for acceptance of waste lubricants.
9. Press the brake pedal and check for free running. It should not exceed 1/3 of the pedal stroke.
10. Fill the brake fluid in the reservoir to the previous levels.
11. Screw on the tank cap.

Test the changes:

? Whether fixed brake pipes and hoses?
? Are the brake hoses in the holders?
? For loose fittings bleed?
? Flooded whether in enough fluids?

12. With the engine running, check the tightness of the system. For this purpose approximately 10 times on the pedal with a force of 200 - 300 N (corresponding to 20 - 30 kg). The brake pedal should not go back. Check for tightness of all connections.
13. Finally, check the brakes on a road with light traffic transport. To do this, you must make at least one strong braking action of verifying ABS (ABS operation is a sign of a pulsation of the brake pedal during braking).

Keep track of your car running after transport. The effect of the ABS is best seen on the road without a covering.

Do not pour brake fluid with household waste or somewhere else. Local authorities should be informed of the areas receiving the brake fluid.
