Adjusting the wheel bearings front axle



Check and adjust wheel bearing play of the front axle

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Poddomkratte the front of the car and establish it on props. Remove a corresponding forward wheel.
  2. Press on the disc brake pads (1).
  3. Using a dial gauge plunger-type measure the amount of movement of the wheel bearing. Compare result of measurement to requirements of Specifications.
  4. Remove the protective cap (2) the hub assembly and unlock the outer slotted nut.
  5. Priboltiv the hub retaining wrench (717 589 00 31 00), remove the outer nut.
  6. Remove the lock plate.
  7. Loosen the inner slotted nut, and then tighten it with an initial force of 200 Nm.

In the process of tightening the nut the hub must be rotated at least three times while tapping with a hammer with soft brisk (for shrinkage roller bearing).

  1. Again loosen the inner nut and tighten it again, play completely by planting the pressure plate.
  2. Again loosen the nut about 1/8 turn, ensuring the play value of about 0.1 mm, and then plant a lock plate in place.
  3. Pre-greased, tighten the outer nut, - nut must be deployed to the grooves of the locking plate.
  4. Measure the amount of movement of the wheel bearing and tighten the outer slotted nut with demanded effort and pre-stuffed with grease, put in place a protective cap (2).
  5. Several times depress the foot brake for the purpose of shrinkage pad, then set the wheel.
