Removing and installing brake differential assemblies with ring gear

Front axle

Details of the installation of the front axle differential assembly

Check the resistance value of tapered bearings from turning

Check backlash in the gearing of the main transfer

PERFORMANCE ORDER

Drain the oil from the crankcase of the bridge (see. Section Check and adjustment of level / replacement of oil builds bridges). Otboltite and remove the cover (1). Remove the assembly of both drive shafts to the hinge covers (see. Section Removal and installation of the drive shafts of the front axle). The properly labeled (complete with shims and outer race), remove the mounting bracket (2). With the help of a special device (460 589 05 31 00) Lift the gear case and remove the differential assembly to the ring gear (3). Wipe the removed components, defective Installation is in the reverse order. When replacing the cover (1) do not use any sealants. Finally, do not forget to check the resistance value of the turning of the bearing and backlash in the gearing of the main transfer (see. Illustration above). Also evaluated the contact spots (see. Section Validation engagement main gear). Make sure that the crankcase drain plug is tightened with demanded effort.

Rear Axle

The procedure is similar to the procedure described above for the front axle differential adjusted for the design of the last (To remove the semi-axes).
