Steering column
A warning This description does not apply to vehicles equipped with an air bag.
Withdrawal
PERFORMANCE ORDER | 1. Disconnect the battery from weight. | 2. Remove the wheel. | 3. Remove the switches with levers (see Fig. Subsection 14.4). | 4. Disconnect the ignition switch connector. | 5. Remove the bottom panel of the driver. | 6. Remove the seal and pull the column in the partition wall of the engine compartment. | 7. Remove the bulkhead metal cover by unscrewing the three nuts (to the vehicle). | 8. Put the wheel and turn the shaft to access the universal joint bolt. | 9. Remove the hinge bolt. | 10. Remove the two upper screws and two lower screws and remove the column. |

Check
PERFORMANCE ORDER | 1. Check for the deformation of the shaft, the integrity of the safety double-cone connection, if necessary, replace the column. | 2. Check the condition of the bearings and bushings, shaft and backlash joints. | 3. At the slightest sign of wear or damage, replace the column. | 4. Measure the length of the column from the end to the pivot pin. | 5. If the length is not correct, replace the column. |

Setting
PERFORMANCE ORDER | 1. Put on a column cover and seal, secure seal clamp (if provided). | 2. Install the column and enter the universal joint so that the clamp bolt when driving rested in the notch on the shaft at the splined end of the shaft. | 3. Tighten the two upper screws and two lower screws with the specified torque. | 4. Tighten the bolt of the universal joint. | 5. Replace the cover and tighten the three screws (on the vehicle). | 6. Put the cover on the lid and secure the clamp. | 7. Install the bottom panel. | 8. Attach the connector to the ignition switch. | 9. Install the stalks. | 10. Install the wheel. | 11. Connect the battery to weight. |
