Engine start

A WARNING
Do not start the engine in enclosed spaces, as there is a danger of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Before starting the engine, set the gearshift lever to the neutral position (or position ?P? or ?N? on cars with automatic transmission) and press the clutch pedal. After starting the engine, release the key.
Cold start for a short time may be accompanied by an increased noise associated with insufficient oil pressure in the lubrication system. Immediately after the start, you can start moving but the engine is not warmed up yet, it is necessary to maintain a low engine speed.

WARNINGS
1. When the car is started with a catalytic converter is not permitted by towing it traveled more than 60 meters. Unburnt fuel enters the catalytic converter, and can damage it. It is better to try to start up the engine with the battery of another vehicle.
2. Start the engine by towing vehicles with automatic transmission is not allowed.

When starting the engine with the fuel injection system, do not press the accelerator pedal. If the engine does not work for 10 seconds, stop starting and repeat it again after 30 seconds. If the engine is not re-let, check the integrity of the fuse of the electric fuel pump.
When starting a warm engine after its launch slightly increase the engine speed by pressing the accelerator pedal.

A combination of devices: 1 - warning light of high temperature or insufficient coolant level; 2 - an alarm lamp of emergency pressure of oil; 3 - a control lamp of a headlamp; 4 - control of direction indicator lamps; 5 - warning light insufficient brake fluid level or the parking brake; 6 - warning light battery charging; 7 - indicator lamp glow; 8 - speedometer; 9 - coolant temperature; 10 - the index of level of fuel in the tank; 11 - tachometer; 12 - information display; 13 - odometer and the counter of daily run

When starting the diesel engine by turning the ignition key to position II (see. Fig. 1.24) in the instrument cluster warning lamp 7 (Fig. 1.25), glow plugs, which informs the driver about including preheating and off when you turn off when the engine is warming up to the required temperature.
Diesel 1.9 TD (55 kW, Engine Code - AAZ) is equipped with pre-heating, which is activated automatically when you open and close the driver's door. If the engine is not allowed, the system will automatically turn on and off after each repeated opening and closing of the door.
The procedure for starting the diesel engine:
- Turn the ignition key to position II (see. Fig. 1.24), the test lamp should illuminate 7 (see. Fig. 1.25) glow plugs;
- Turn the ignition key to position III (see. Fig. 1.24) after the indicator lamp goes out 7, and start up the engine;
- Immediately after the engine starts release the ignition key.

Start a cold diesel engine is simplified by increasing the engine speed to idle. This function provides control of the engine speed at idle. Knob 5 (see. Fig. 1.1) the control knob to the left of the steering column. To start the engine when the air temperature above -15 ? C completely pull the knob out. If the temperature is below -15 ? C, first turn the ignition key to position II (see. Fig. 1.24), then pull the handle 5 (see. Fig. 1.1).
To prevent discharge of the battery is recommended when the glow plugs to turn off other consumers of electricity.
When starting the engine, do not press the accelerator pedal.
If start-up is accompanied by irregular work with passes of cylinders, hold the starter, but not more than 30 seconds.
If the engine does not start, re-activate the glow plug and start again. If the engine does not start at the second attempt, check the integrity of the fuse glow. After warming up the engine to operating temperature control knob accelerator idle, set to the starting position.
When the engine is necessary to remember the following:
- After a long work of the engine under load or at high engine speeds or turn off the engine immediately after stopping the car. The engine should be run for 2-3 minutes at idle. This prevents overheating of the engine;
- After stopping the engine the engine cooling fan may be some time (up to 10 minutes) to continue to operate;
- The engine cooling fan may start and after a while after stopping the engine when the temperature rises netsirkuliruyuschey coolant.

A WARNING
The car with a catalytic converter can not turn off the ignition while driving in any gear.
