Gear oils and fluids for automatic transmission
For manual transmission and differential oils used the following brands: API GL 4, SAE 80, G50 and SAE 75W-90. Periodic replacement and checking the oil level is not provided. In some cases (for example, leaks) it is necessary to check the oil level and top up. To do this, follow these steps: - Park the vehicle on a pit or hoist; - Unscrew the oil filler plug gearbox; - Check the oil-filling hole through the oil level. It must be not less than 6 mm in the lower edge of the hole; - Add oil (if necessary); - Tighten the plug.

The automatic transmission model 096 uses liquid Dexron II ATF. For lubrication differential on models equipped with a manual transmission, gear oils used G50 and SAE 75W-90. Periodic replacement fluid in the transmission is not provided. However, you must check the level. To do this, put the car on a level surface. The level is determined by using the pointer (Fig. 1.55) in a sequence similar to the definition of the engine oil level (see. Div. "Engine Oil").
A WARNING If the fluid in the gearbox has a black color and the smell of burning, it needs some repair box. In this case, you should immediately contact the service center Volkswagen. |
In the automatic transmission model 01M cars since 1995 of release liquid level can be checked only in the Volkswagen service center using the diagnostic equipment. It is characterized by the absence of the index. Gearbox and differential 01M used liquid VW ATF G 052 162 A1.
