Checking the fuel pump

If the engine runs poorly or not run at all, as well as stalls while driving, check the fuel pump. The fuel pump located in the fuel tank. To verify that the pump is not required to take.

Operability test

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Check fuses injection system (FUEL INJ). Defective fuses to replace.

. Models up to 9/89 MY.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Connect terminals verification fuel pump connector with a cable. The cable is connected at the time of inspection.

. Models with 10/89 Vol.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Connect with cable terminals F / P and GND. The cable is connected at the time of inspection.
  1. Ignition ON, engine OFF.
  1. Remove the cover of the fuel tank and check for a dial noise from the fuel pump. If the noise is not audible from work, check the wires on the circuit for an open. If the wires are OK, but the noise from the work still can not be heard, then check the fuel pump relay.

Checking the fuel pump relay

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove the rear seat, see. Chapter Wheels and tires, a body, car coloring, care of the car.
  2. Switch on the ignition.
  1. Measure the voltage with a voltmeter between terminal B / P (up to 9/89 MY. Terminal of GR) and mass. It should be 12 V.
  1. Switch off the ignition.
  2. If the voltage is not correct, unscrew the side trim in the center console compartment to the passenger's feet. The fuel pump relay is located next to the control unit.
  3. Switch on the ignition.
  1. Check that the relay switches distinguishable by ear. If the relay does not switch over, check the resistance of the relay.
  1. Pull the plug on the relay.
  2. Measure the resistance between terminals using an ohmmeter.

  1. If one or more values do not meet the requirements, replace the relay. If the relay is serviceable, check the fuel pressure.

Checking fuel pressure

PERFORMANCE ORDER

Test conditions: The battery is fully charged (12 V), the fuel filter in perfect condition.
  1. Align the fuel pressure.
  2. Disconnect the fuel line between the fuel filter and the distribution manifold on the filter after loosening the clamp.

Put a cloth around the fuel, as fuel can act.

  1. Connect the manometer with top livostoykim auxiliary hose to the fuel filter.
  1. Ignition ON, engine OFF.
  2. Measure the fuel pressure. Required value: 4.4 - 5.8 bar.
  3. If the value does not meet the requirements, fuel hoses and connections should be checked for damage, leaks and contamination. If the hoses are OK, replace the fuel pump.
  4. Switch off the ignition.
  5. Disconnect the cable from the diagnostic socket.
  6. Remove the auxiliary hose and a pressure gauge and connect the fuel hose, securing it with a clamp.
  7. Start the engine and check the tightness of the fuel system.
