Removal and installation of valves



Withdrawal

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove the cylinder head, see. Section Removal and installation of the cylinder head / replacement of the cylinder head gasket.
  2. Remove the camshaft. See Sections Removal and installation of a cam / valve timing adjustment, removal and installation of a camshaft, camshaft / camshaft drive mechanism.

If the details of the distribution mechanism will be established again, they must be installed in its place. To avoid confusion, it is recommended to prepare a suitable fold-out board.

  1. Engines with two camshafts with top: Remove the bucket tappets and put on the board.
  1. Remove the valve springs. To remove crumbs valves, standard pliers for valve springs.
  1. Compress valve springs and remove the crumbs. Remove the pliers. Remove the valve. Remove the upper cup valves, springs and cups downstairs.
  2. Remove the valve stem seals. See Section Replacing the valve stem seals.

Setting

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. If will be established the old valves and cylinder head, before assembly, check valve guides. If new valves are installed in the old cylinder head must be treated chamfer valves in the cylinder head and the valves themselves.
  2. Clean the valves with a wire brush and scraper from the remnants of a deposit.
  3. Engine OT, B5, B6 (SOHC), BP (SOHC): Check the rocker arm shaft and rocker arm for the presence of grooves and wear.
  4. Lightly grease the valve stem and insert each valve to its old place. New valves should be pre-grind with the help of sanding paste. See Section Checking / adjusting valve clearance.
  5. Thoroughly clean all parts and lubricate the moving parts with engine oil.
  6. Be sure to replace the valve stem seals.
  7. Insert the valves in the cylinder head. Ensure that the intake and exhaust valves were installed in the correct order.
  8. Insert the lower cup valve springs.
  9. Install the spring and the upper valve spring cup.
  10. Compress valve springs with forceps and insert valve crackers so that they fit into the holes of valves. Remove the forceps and install other valves.
  11. Lightly tap with a hammer on a polymer valve stem to ensure the correct position of crackers.
  12. Engines with 2 camshafts with top: Lubricate all bucket tappets engine oil and insert them into the holes.
  13. Install the camshaft. See sections Removing and installing camshaft, Camshaft / timing gear, camshaft / camshaft drive mechanism.
  14. Replace the cylinder head gasket, install the cylinder head, see. Section Removal and installation of the cylinder head / replacement of the cylinder head gasket.
  15. Adjust the valve clearance. See Section Checking / adjusting valve clearance.
