Removing and installing the camshaft / camshaft adjustment

Engines E1, EZ, E5

1 - head cover
2 - the bolt of the camshaft gear
3 - camshaft drive chain
4 - camshaft
5 - a bolt
6 - segment seal

7 - cylinder head
8 - a spark plug
9 - Valve
10 - with the rocker shaft rocker arms and camshaft bearing halves
11 - the cylinder head bolts
12 - the cylinder head cover gasket

In principle, the cylinder head engine E has the same construction as that of the other gasoline engines. In the following text will be given only on differences.

Withdrawal

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect earth cable from the battery.

This data is erased from the memory of malfunctions of the engine or a protective code of a radio receiver. Before disconnecting the battery should read instructions in Section Removal and installation of the battery.

  1. Lock the crankshaft, and to unscrew a bolt of fastening of a cam gear.
  2. To lock the crankshaft include 5th or 4th gear and ask the assistant to press the brake pedal.
  3. Loosen the timing chain tensioner.
  4. Loosen the cylinder head bolts in the sequence 1 to 10 for the first pass on 1/2 turns for the second pass one turn and a full turn on the third pass.

The weakening of the cylinder head bolts in an improper manner can lead to deformation or cracks in the cylinder head.

  1. Remove the rocker arm shaft to the camshaft bearing halves.
  2. Assign camshaft timing chain and wire, for fixing the position of the sprocket and chain relative to each other.
  1. Remove the camshaft sprocket and remove the camshaft.
  1. Ask an assistant to keep the camshaft sprocket under tension to the drive chain does not come off from the crankshaft sprocket.

If the chain jumped off the sprocket, crankshaft, camshaft mechanism must be adjusted again.

  1. Check whether all hoses and wires from the cylinder head to the engine and bodywork disabled.
  2. Remove the cylinder head with the help of an assistant.

Do not place the cylinder head after removal of the sealing surface, the damage can be fully open valve. Place the cylinder head on the two pieces of wood.

Setting

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Insert the camshaft.
  2. Install the camshaft sprocket with timing chain.
  3. Install the rocker arm shafts with the halves of the camshaft bearings.
  4. Tighten bolts to fit 10 to the cylinder head by hand. Then the bolts should be tightened in three passes. On each pass the bolts are tightened in sequence from the 1st to the 10th.

1st pass: 50 Nm

2nd pass: 70 Nm

3rd passage: 90 Nm

Tighten the cylinder head bolts should be done very carefully. Before tightening, check the accuracy of the torque wrench. In addition, you must strictly follow the sequence of tightening.

  1. Lock the crankshaft, install bolt gear camshaft and tighten it with a torque of 75 Nm.
  2. To lock the crankshaft include 4th or 5th gear and ask the assistant to squeeze out a brake pedal.
  1. Click the lock in the direction of the arrow and fully into the sleeve tensioner chain tensioner body. Fix the coupling bracket.
  1. Install and screw the chain tensioner with a new gasket.
  2. After you install the tensioner bracket is reduced by the rotation of the crankshaft. Coupling shifts automatically sets chain backlash.
  3. Check the setting of the drive chain. To do this, rotate the crankshaft to the mark on the belt pulley has coincided with the label "T". Simultaneously, the rocker cylinder 1 should have a small gap, and the rocker cylinder 4 is in the position of valve overlap, ie. E., Both valves must be pressed down rockers. If not, the drive chain needs to be adjusted again.
  1. Install the cylinder head cover with a new gasket cover seal and segment. Screw the lid with a force of 10 Nm.
  1. Connect the battery earth cable.
  2. If available, set the clock and set the security code radio.
  3. Check valve clearance. See Section Checking / adjusting valve clearance.

Adjusting the drive chain

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove the cylinder head cover.
  1. Block crankshaft and unscrew the bolt camshaft sprocket (engine depicted in the removed position).
  1. To lock the crankshaft include 5th or 4th gear and ask the assistant to squeeze out a brake pedal.
  2. Remove chain tensioner.
  3. Remove the V-belt, see. Section Removal and installation / belt tension.
  4. Raise the vehicle.
  5. Block crankshaft and unscrew the bolt of the crankshaft pulley.
  6. Unscrew all bolts of the oil pan, which are screwed into the cover of the drive chain.
  7. Unscrew the cover of a chain.
  1. Crank the groove key facing upwards. At the same time polished (shiny) links of the chain must match with the marks on the camshaft and crankshaft sprocket shaft. If the labels do not match, remove the asterisk from a camshaft and adjust chain.
  1. If the chain is adjusted correctly, install the camshaft sprocket, timing chain housing, the cylinder head cover, the crankshaft pulley bolts and oil pan.
