Connecting rod and piston group and dismantling
Attention! Before removing pistons and connecting rods, remove the cylinder head, oil sump and the oil pump. |
1. Remove the collar at the top of the cylinder (see photo). 2. Turn the engine and check the axial clearance of rods (photo) by inserting the test leads between the crankshaft and connecting rod. Axial play is equal to the total thickness of the probe in which the gap disappears. If axial play exceeds the standard value of a rod, the rod must be replaced. If new connecting rods (or co-lenval), the axial play may be less than normal (in this case it is necessary to grind the connecting rods, if necessary, consult the workshop of car-care center). Repeat for the other rods. | 11.2 Checking the axial play of the connecting rod |

3. In the absence of labels on rods and covers of rods they stake the number of the cylinder (see photo). 4. Loosen the nut covers, turning them 1/2 turn at a time, until the nut will not turn away from the hand. Remove the cover from the first cylinder rod with a liner from the cap, do not remove. Push the piston rod and the liner over the top of the cylinder, pre-wearing bolts hose segments (photo). 5. Repeat for all remaining cylinders. 6. Assemble the rods with lids, caps tighten nuts by hand.
