Piston Rings setting
1. Before installation of new piston rings it is necessary to check the gap in their joints. The implication is that the gap between the ring and landing pad groove has already been verified and is correct. 2. Lay the pistons in gathering with rods and new piston rings in such a manner that corresponds to a set of cylinder rings, which will be measured by the gap. 3. Insert the first cylinder top ring and push the piston head inside, so that the ring was inside the cylinder perpendicular to its axis (see photo). The ring should be in the lower part of the cylinder in a position corresponding to the bottom dead point. 4. Measure the clearance probes and compare the result with standard value (see photo). If the gap is more or less set, then double-check the correctness of the selection of rings. 5. If the gap is too small, file off the ends (photo). 6. allowed ring joint gap 1 mm. 7. Trust gap in each ring. 8. Place the rings on the piston, starting with the valve stem. Set in the groove splitter / extender (photo). 9. After installing all parts oil ring, make sure that the upper and lower wheels turn freely in the groove. 10. Install the middle and upper ring. The label on the middle ring should be facing toward the piston crown (photo).
Attention! Always refer to the instructions on the package of piston rings, ~ from different manufacturers may have different designations correct orientation of the ring. Do not confuse the upper and lower compression rings, as they have different cross sections. |
