The rear oil seal - Installation
On 4-cylinder engines 1. Grease the stuffing box, put in the crankshaft and carefully press in the mandrel or by tapping the soft spacer. On V6 engines 2. Make a note of the old landing gland in depth and remove seal from the holder (see photo). 3. Clean the stuffing box and lubricate the outer edge. Press in the oil seal mandrel, or two pieces of wood, holding the gland in a vice between the bars. You can also drive in a hammer through the bar (pictured). Gland has to go to the holder at an angle.
