Adjusting handbrake




A warning

Optimum gap brake pad is supported by the automatic adjustment mechanism, however, the replacement of cables of a manual brake or rear brake caliper is necessary to make adjustment of the handbrake.


PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove facing of the handbrake lever and the back of the center console. Adjusting nut (arrow) is located behind the handbrake lever.
2. At least once, press the brake pedal to stop.
3. Loosen the bolts of the rear wheels, then lift the rear of the car and fix on supports. Remove the rear wheels.
4. Fully release the hand brake.
Vehicles with rear disc brakes
5. Turn the adjusting nut of the handbrake lever, place it in a position in which the distance between the handbrake lever and the caliper measurement probe (1) is not more than 1.5 mm.
6. Tighten three times to stop the handbrake lever, with all the elements of a manual brake will be established in its place.
7. Check that the lever is released the hand brake the rear wheels rotate freely.
Cars with rear drum brakes
8. Tighten the handbrake lever to four clicks.
9. Turn the adjusting nut, place it in a position in which the rear wheels are turned with difficulty.
10. Release the handbrake lever and check that the rear wheels rotate freely. If necessary, repeat the adjustment.
11. Lower the car.
12. Install the center console trim and handbrake lever.
