Clutch - a general description and check of serviceability of functioning

All vehicles equipped with Manual transmission, set single-plate dry-type clutch diaphragm spring. Clutch Disc (slave) is equipped with splined hub, it provides free sliding along the splines primary shaft gearbox. Guided and pressure wheels are held pressed together by force exerted by a diaphragm spring pressure plate.

Driven disc and clutch basket (with pressure plate).

Clutch system operates by hydraulic pressure. The hydraulic clutch system includes a clutch pedal, master cylinder with a reservoir of hydraulic fluid, hydraulic lines, slave cylinder and clutch release lever, which is located inside the clutch housing.

When squeezing the clutch pedal pressure is applied to the hydraulic release bearing via a lever clutch. The bearing is pressed against the petals of the diaphragm spring pressure plate assembly baskets, which, in turn, releases the clutch disc.

In discussing the procedures related to service clutches may have problems with the language, as the common names of many of the components differ from those manufacturers. For example, the slave drive can be referred to as a disk clutch or a disc, release bearing is sometimes called cross-cutting or release bearing, clutch cylinder is often referred to as an executive or work.

Also change obviously damaged components should regularly check the status of adhesion prevention in order to diagnose its problems.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. First always checks the fluid level in the clutch master cylinder. If the level is not sufficient, it should be topped up and scrutinize the entire hydraulic system for signs of leaks. If the master cylinder reservoir is empty, the system must be primed and then verify the operation of coupling.
  2. To check the quality of the clutch start the engine and leave it running at normal idle speed when installed in neutral Manual transmission (clutch is engaged - the pedal is released). Turn the clutch (depress), wait a few seconds and turn the box into the reverse gear position. At the same time there should be no grinding or other unusual noises. The presence of those with a high probability indicates a malfunction of the pressure or clutch disc (assuming that RKPP right).
  3. To verify the completeness of the clutch start the engine (the parking brake cock to prevent the pushing car) and hold the clutch pedal is about 13 mm above the floor. Several times, switch box, transferring it from the position of the first transmission switch back and forth. If fluency in switching box is missing, there is the problem of coupling components. Check the slave cylinder pushrod stroke. When the pedal is fully depressed the plunger actuator cylinder should act significantly. If not, check the fluid level in the master cylinder.
  4. Perform a visual inspection of the axial plug in the top of the clutch pedal. Make sure there are no signs of it biting or excessive backlash.
