general information

The information contained in this Chapter information refers to the components located in the transmission path between the rear of the engine and the drive wheels of a vehicle, except here Manual transmission and transfer case, discussed in Chapter Manual gearbox gearshift, Automatic Transmission and Transfer Case. For convenience of presentation components are divided into three categories, which can be titled as follows: clutch, drive shafts and axles. Section of the chapter gives an overview of the structure and function of the components of each group, as well as the procedures for verification of their functioning.

Since most discussed in this chapter is made under the vehicle, pay special attention to the reliability of fixing it in the raised position (with the help of props, or winch, making it possible to easily change the height of the car hanging over the ground).
