Checking the battery

There are two options for battery test. Depending on them require the use of different testing devices.

Check the density of the electrolyte

In combination with the measurement of the voltage actual density of the electrolyte allows to conclude the battery's charge.

To test applies hydrometer. The more weight (specific gravity) to suck the electrolyte, the deeper into the float (hydrometer). On a scale of density of the electrolyte can be considered as a specific gravity (g / ml) or degrees Bome (+ ? Be).

Be achieved following values (at an electrolyte temperature of about + 20 ? C).

Subsequently check every single element, all the elements of the cell must have the same density of the electrolyte (the maximum difference of 0, 04 g / ml). Otherwise faulty battery can be closed.

Check the battery under load

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Connect a voltmeter to the battery terminals.
2. Note: If the battery voltage (without connecting consumers) is less than 12, it is discharged and must be recharged.
3. Start the engine and read the voltage.
4. The process of starting the engine in charged battery voltage must be of at least 8 V (at an electrolyte temperature of about + 20 ? C).
5. If the voltage immediately drops and the cells were fixed different density of the electrolyte, the faulty battery can be closed.

The total voltage can be measured using a device for checking the battery. Pay attention to the manufacturer's recommendations for the care of the battery.

A warning

If during this measurement (duration 10 sec.) The total voltage drops below 10 V, the battery is discharged or faulty or.
