Self-discharge of the battery

Depending on the vehicle equipment to the natural discharge of the battery current consumption contributes to various control systems even in the case where the engine is not running. Therefore, the present car battery must be recharged every four weeks. If there is a suspicion of the presence of leakage currents on the surface of the insulator, check the electrical on-board network.

To check, use a charged battery.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable terminal (-).
A warning

This deletes all the accumulated data in electronic storage devices, such as the anti-theft code for the radio. Before disconnecting the battery should also read the recommendations in section

2. Set the ammeter (measuring range 0-5 mA to 5 A) the maximum limits of measurement. Ammeter switch between the negative pole of the battery and the cable connecting it to the pole with the body of the car.

A warning

The test can be carried out also by means of a control bulb. But if the light does not illuminate when the flexible bridge between her and the negative pole of the battery, in any case, you must use an ammeter.

3. Turn off all current consumers, disconnect from the terminal electronic clock (constant current user), close the door.
4. Switch ranges ammeter, determine the amount of current.
5. Remove the fuses in series or tamper with different circuits. If one of the broken chains indicated zero here and you need to seek the source of the fault. Defects can be correlated or dirty contacts, through wires fray, inner circuit in the unit.
6. If in a circuit protected by fuses, defects were found, it should pull the wire tips with units that are not protected by fuses. These are: Ignition system, alternator and starter.
7. If you disconnect from the terminals of one of the unprotected fuse units display returns to zero, then repair or replace the appropriate part. If there is a leak current in the starter or ignition system, first check the ignition switch in accordance with the concept of electrical equipment.
8. Connect to the terminal of the battery ground cable (-).
9. Set the time, and enter the anti-theft code for the radio.
