Removing and installing radiator and advanced cooling system tank

1. On models 1993 and 1994 Vol. expansion tank is located in the left corner of the engine compartment and is secured near the battery. Since 1995, the tank moved to the opposite side of the engine compartment - the right front corner.

2. Disconnect the hose from the top of the radiator and to pinch it. On models 1993 and 1994 Vol. Turn out fixing bolts and remove the expansion tank. On models since 1995 Vol. a vertical tank is pulled out of the support bracket.

3. Drain the coolant in a specially prepared container.
4. Use bottled their brush rinse the tank outside and inside, and then inspect it for cracks and other mechanical damages. In case of defects, as well as the inability to read the fluid level through the translucent wall, the tank must be replaced.

In no case do not use the brush used for cleaning the expansion tank for washing dishes drinking!

5. Install in the reverse order.

1. Disconnect the negative wire from the battery.

If installed on the car stereo is equipped with a security code before to disconnect the battery make sure that have a correct combination for audiosystem input in action!

2. Cock a lay brake and prop chock rear wheels. Poddomkratte the front of the car and establish it on props.
3. Drain the cooling system (see chap. Adjustment and routine maintenance). If the replacement coolant made recently, save for later use (see. The warnings in Antifreeze - the general information).

4. The scheme of installation of the radiator in the engine compartment is shown in the illustration.

5. On models with AT disconnect the line from the radiator cooling path ATF. Get ready to collect spilled liquids immediately plug the open ends of the pipes and fittings.

6. Release collars and disconnect from a radiator, both (upper and lower) hoses. If the hoses are "baked onto" for connecting pipes, use tongs or a knife (with subsequent replacement of hoses). Try not to damage the connecting pipes. Also, disconnect the radiator overflow thin hose going to the expansion tank.
7. Remove the fan (s) cooling system (see. Section Checking the status of the cooling fans and chains of their inclusion, replacement of components).

8. Otboltite small radiator mounting brackets to the upper support beam.

9. Remove the radiator assembly from the engine compartment. Be careful - do not cut your fingers on the sharp edge of the heat exchanger plates, try not to spill the coolant on the painted surface of the body.
10. After removal from the car radiator can be checked for signs of leaks, damage and violations of internal cross exchanger. Any repairs must be carried out only in a specialized workshop with the necessary equipment.
11. The remains of insects and vegetation can be removed from the space between the plates of the heat exchanger by blowing compressed air (be sure to wear protective goggles!) Or scrubbing with a soft brush. Be careful not to bend the thin plate heat exchanger and not to cut your fingers on them. Before installation of the radiator to be washed by supplying water into using a garden hose.
12. Check the rubber support of a radiator, in case of need make replacement of defective components.
13. Install in the reverse order. Track correctness of placing the radiator on its supports.
14. Upon completion of the installation fill the coolant system of the desired composition, release of air pockets tract (see chap. Adjustment and routine maintenance).
15. Start the engine and check for any signs of leaks. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature (both radiator hoses should be hot to the touch). Check the coolant level, if necessary add a corresponding amount of a mixture of the desired composition.
16. On models with AT check the level of ATF, if necessary, appropriate adjustments.
