Glow plugs

Check
Addressing the identified faults in the system is carried out by replacing defective blocks on serviceable.
Detection of a fault sequence is as follows:
- Connect a voltmeter or a test lamp between 12V power cable of glow plug and "weight" (eg, unpainted massive engine parts);
- Switch on the ignition (the work is best done with an assistant, who will operate the system preheating through the ignition key or open and then close the driver's door, depending on the design), and check the power supply from the battery to the candle (after the end of the heating voltage must drop to zero).
When the air temperature 20 ? C, the time intervals applying a voltage to the glow plugs should be 5-6 seconds at a burning control lamp and 10, starting from the moment when the control lamp goes out. Burning time control lamp increases with decreasing temperature and decreases with its increase.
If the power to the glow plug is not supplied, the reason is probably or failure of the glow plug relay (if it is applied in the system), or a wiring fault.
Replace the defective glow plugs performed as follows:
Disconnect "minus" wires from the battery terminal;
- Disconnect the main power cable from the clamp glow;
- Ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminal and the spark plug "minus" of the wire. If the value is more than a few ohms (resistance of the glow plug is approximately 1-1.5 ohms), the candle is faulty;
Connect an ammeter between the power cable candles and candle and measure the steady current consumption, while ignoring the initial swing, which will be about 50% higher. At high current consumption or, conversely, its absence candle is faulty;
- Visually inspect the spark (this glow plug must be removed).

A WARNING
To avoid burns, do not touch the glow plugs, if the system is preheating just worked recently or the engine is turned off.

Removing glow spend in the following order:
disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery;

Removing the mounting plate current tire (tire rod nuts and washers previously removed)
Fig. 3.76. Removing the mounting plate current tire (tire rod nuts and washers previously removed)

otverntite nuts and washers from the mounting plate busbar, then remove the current carrying bus (Fig. 3.76)

Removing the glow plug from the cylinder head

- Remove the spark plugs and remove it from the cylinder head (Fig. 3.77). Check the spark plug for mechanical damage. A large number of coke or destruction of the tip of the candle - evidence of malfunction of the fuel injector, which must be replaced. Similarly, visually inspect the rest of the candles. If necessary, replace faulty fuel injectors.
The efficiency of the glow plug can also be checked by applying a voltage of 12 V. It Functioning glow plug is heated to redness of the working tip within 5 seconds. If the heating time of 5 seconds or longer when energized heats center candle, not the tip, the candle is faulty and must be replaced.

Install the glow plug is held in reverse order of removal. Before installing the threaded part of the spark is recommended to lubricate the special non-stick composition. After baiting the candle into the threaded hole of the cylinder head tighten regulated torque.

A WARNING
Use caution when checking the performance glow. Hold a candle or a special clamp pliers. The electric power supply circuit glow plugs must be fitted with a fuse (Fig. 3.78). After testing, do not rush to install the candle in place and let it cool for a few minutes.
