Replacing the flat tire



The operations described below may be used as a replacement for the wheels and for shifting of the wheels. In preparation for the replacement of flat tire, make sure that the selector is in the "P" ("parking") (automatic transmission) or the shift lever is in the reverse gear (manual transmission) and apply the parking brake, then perform an action listed below.

Prepare the spare tire and tools (Fig. 1.195).
Remove the spare tire, jack, jack handle, and tool bag.

NOTE
The spare wheel is located underneath the rear of the vehicle.

Lock the wheel.

To prevent movement of the vehicle when he picked up a jack, set the brake shoes (thrust pads) under the wheel located on the opposite side on the diagonal with respect to the replaced wheel (Fig. 1.196).

Loosen the wheel nuts (Fig. 1.197).
Before you pick up the car, you need to slightly loosen the wheel nuts. To do this, turn the wrench handle counterclockwise. At the same time, make sure that the key head tightly encloses the wheel nuts. Then turn, hold the key for the end of the handle. Do not remove the wheel nuts completely at this stage. Just loosen the tightening of a half turn.

The base of the jack should be placed on a firm, flat surface. The jack should be located as shown in Figure 1.198.

Insert the wrench to tighten the wheel nuts in the handle of the jack as shown in Figure 1.199. to pick up the car, turn the jack handle clockwise. When a jack to raise the car begins to re-check the reliability of its system. To fit the wheel on the hub, pick it up, align the holes with the studs and slide the wheel over them (Fig. 1.200). If this is difficult, tip the wheel slightly and align the top hole first with a pin. Then poshatatsya wheel to insert the studs remaining in the holes of the wheel.

Lower the car to the ground by turning the jack handle counterclockwise (Fig. 1.202).
Set the key in the position shown in the figure and tighten the wheel nuts. Make sure that the key head tightly encloses the wheel nuts. When tightening the wheel nuts not step foot on the wheel wrench or extend the latter by means of the pipe, as this may lead to the waist nuts. Alternately tighten the wheel nuts. Re-check the tightness of all nuts.

After replacing the wheel as soon as possible provide specialist car to a mechanic could tighten the wheel nuts to the correct torque (Fig. 1.203).
The tightening torque of the wheel nuts: steel disk and aluminum alloy - 90-110 Nm.

If you have a pressure gauge, remove the valve cap and check the air pressure in the tire. If the air pressure is lower than recommended, Ride slowly to the nearest service station and restore the correct pressure. If tire pressure above the recommended, depressurize it to the desired value. After that, be sure to screw the cap on the valve. If you do not, then the air can escape through the valve. If the cap is lost as soon as possible, obtain and install a new one.
After changing wheels, always attach a flat tire in place and put them in storage jack, jack handle and tools.
