Airbags

The airbag system

The car is equipped with an additional double security system (Supplemental Restraint System - SRS), consisting of airbags for the driver and front passenger. In some countries Kia delivers cars with only one airbag - driver.

The airbag is designed as an additional protection for the correctness fastened people in case of a severe frontal collision of a vehicle. Air bags are not a replacement seat belt and do not provide protection of the lower limbs.

There are many types of accidents in which the airbag is not activated. These include side and rear collision, turning the car on the roof, the second and third strikes in multiple collisions with obstacles and at low speed. Remember that air bags have been designed so that they are disclosed only in the cases when a person strike force is moved forward to the airbag, t. E. In the case of a direct frontal impact and frontal attacks with a small deviation from linearity. In other words, if the vehicle is damaged or completely broken, do not be surprised that the air bag is not opened. There are four very important argument, use of seat belts, even in cases where the vehicle is equipped with airbags:

- Keep the belts in the correct position (far enough from the unfolding airbag);
- Belts reduce the risk of injury in collisions from the side and rear of a vehicle rollover, because the airbag is not designed for such situations;
- Belts reduce the risk of injury with weak frontal collisions, is not strong enough to activate the airbags.

Airbags and seat belts

Even in vehicles equipped with airbags, driver and passengers with safety belts should be tacked to reduce the risk of injury. In a collision or rollover belts reduce the probability of a person out of the car.

Always be fastened seat belt. The belt will stay well away from the air bags during heavy braking just before a collision.

Air bags are designed so that they are opened in the event of a sharp frontal attacks. They are not disclosed at the side and rear collisions, rollover or head-on collisions at low speed. Also, not disclosed by the secondary recurring strokes in multiple collisions.

If the car was flooded or was in any way damaged by flooding, do not attempt to start the car or insert the key in the ignition and disconnect the battery. Otherwise, it may open up the airbag and cause serious injury. Have the car towed to an authorized Kia dealer for inspection and necessary repairs.
