Removal, installation and maintenance of the water pump

Petrol models

PERFORMANCE ORDER

Installed on petrol models, the water pump is not repairable, and - in the case of signs of development of leaks of coolant drips near the timing cover, - must be replaced. Remove protection crankcase. Remove the radiator cap. Open the drain valve and drain the coolant from the radiator into the prepared container suitable volume. Remove the upper and lower radiator hoses. Remove overflow hose coming from the filler neck of the radiator to the expansion tank. Remove the air intake inlet air path (see. Power supply systems, engine control / emission control and exhaust). Remove the fan wheel and the fan shroud assembly. Release fixing and adjusting bolts of the generator, and then remove the alternator drive belt. 1 - 4-rib drive belt 2 - Adjusting bolt Remove the drive pulley of the cooling fan (see. Section Replacement of the bearing cooling fan drive). Remove the bearing assembly fan (see. Section Replacement of the bearing cooling fan drive). Remove the top and bottom timing cover (see chap. Engine). While cranking the engine in the normal direction, bring the piston of the first cylinder in position of the TDC. Release the lock bolt, take off the belt tensioner pulley Timing belt, then retighten the lock bolt. Remove the gear drive the water pump and move toward gas distribution belt. Once again, release the tensioner bolt. Turn out fixing bolts and remove assemblage of the water pump. 1 - timing cover with sealing elements 2 - The intermediate roller 3 - Assembling the water pump 4 - Gasket Remove the pump assembly intermediate roller. Carefully smooth out interfaced surfaces of the pump and the engine block. Installation is the reverse order of disassembly of components - Ensure compliance with the Specifications of the Head of System of cooling, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems to the efforts of a tightening of threaded fasteners. Finally, start the engine and check for signs of coolant leaks. If necessary, make appropriate adjustments, adjust the level of the coolant.

While cranking the engine in the normal direction, bring the piston of the first cylinder in position of the TDC. Drain the cooling system (see chap. Current care and maintenance). Details of the installation of the water pump shows - remove the components in the numerical order. Installation is in the reverse order. Ensure compliance with the requirements of the specification of the Head of System of cooling, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems to the efforts of a tightening of threaded fasteners.
