Checking for leaks, replacement of coolant hoses

Leak test

Radiator cap

Check of serviceability of functioning of the vacuum valve

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Built to cover the vacuum valve opens at the formation of the working path of the cooling system vacuum.
  1. Pulling down, open the vacuum valve radiator cap - when you release the valve should close completely. Make sure there is no mechanical damage to work surfaces and the sealing element of the valve. If necessary, replace the cover.

Check of serviceability of functioning of the pressure valve

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Discharge valve when the system pressure exceeds a predetermined value provides an excess output fluid from the radiator to the expansion tank.
  2. Remove from the space between the valve seat and traces of scale and debris.
  1. Connect to cover a special tester and start to pump up the pressure gradually handle the latter, - the pressure should stabilize at 0.75 ÷ 1.05 kgf / cm 2. Stop inflating, - the pressure should be kept at that level for at least 10 seconds. If necessary, replace the cover.

The entire path of the cooling system

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Replace the cover on the radiator.
  1. Through equipped transition nozzle hose to connect the lid special tester (see. Conjugated. Illustration) and create a system pressure of 1.05 kgf / cm 2 (103 kPa). If the pressure is not kept, carefully inspect all hoses cooling tract for signs of leaks. Make the necessary corrections.

Alternatively, the tester can be connected directly to the neck of the radiator, which first need to remove the cover.

Replacement hoses

See. Also section Checking the operation of the cooling system and frost coolant fluid replacement and Check and replacement of hoses of an impellent compartment, localization of leaks in Chapter Current leaving and service.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Identified in checking the status of components of the cooling system (see chap. Current leaving and service) damaged hoses must be replaced without fail.
  2. Drain the cooling system (see chap. Current care and maintenance).
  3. Loosen and move aside the mounting clamps. Carefully remove the hose from the suctions. If the hose is not amenable to removal, try rotating the it, taking care not to damage the pipe, breaking of which is fraught with considerable cost - remember that the radiator pipes are among the rather fragile components! If necessary, the hose can be cut, - the cost of a new hose is not comparable to the cost of acquiring a removable radiator.

Before you cut the pipe, prepare a suitable replacement for the standard size element.

  1. When installing a new hose, first put the clamps on him and only after that is placed on the suctions. To facilitate the installation of rigid hoses moisten the internal surfaces of the ends with soapy water or heating in hot water - avoid hose bundles do not immerse in boiling water.

Clamps clamping type is wise to replace the screw / worm.

  1. After landing on the hose fittings, check the correctness of its installation in the engine compartment. Slide the clamps on the ends of the hose, the head of them for flaring pipes, then tighten.
  2. Fill the cooling system (see chap. Current care and maintenance).
  3. Start the engine and check for signs of coolant leaks in places of landing a removable hose.
